This thread is for comment on the new, massively revised "please read" thread. AF literally had the last word, BTW--she made many changes, then I reposted it--all I did , finally, was to correct some of my spelling errors that had snuck through the dozen or so edits.

Any praise or blame goes on both of us--near as I can figure, we each contributed about half, and some parts I'm not even sure who wrote.

Looks good. We all knew what you wanted, but you seemed to want to take it too far.

"'Free speech' is allowed, but don't expect to be taken seriously if your responses are meant only to insult, slander or belittle the OP without offering up any coherent discussion of your own."

Much better way of putting it. Instead of sounding like a threat, this reads, "Lawl no one gonna take you seriously if you're a jackass."

What, no dissenters? I'm in shock!

Yeah, I'm surprised at the dearth of comments--got plenty of readers, so I guess that silence denotes consent.

It's terrible, take it down.

Just joking, PLUR :D

Okay, I'll bite (so to speak)--what does "PLUR" mean in standard English?

PLUR (http://www.google.com/search?q=define%3A+PLUR&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a): an acronym that stands for "Peace, Love, Unity, Respect (Responsibility)".

Homage to Hazey

Thanks for clearing that up--thought it was some kind of trendy texting-speak.

I'm not a Luddite, I'm just way behind the curve.

(Who gets the film reference?)

I don't see the point, honestly.

Unlike some, I do not give, nor do I strive to give all of my fellow humans respect. Some deserve or have earned respect, and others do/have not. Part of my personal spiritual growth perhaps.

Gutter language and low brow humor may not be in your tastes, but this forum will not share one or two peoples personal taste. Even if the two of YOU believe it will be more condusive for our spiritual growth, or more condusive to our understanding of matters of religion.

I realize that my language and crude behavior are not liked by many here, but it is important to note that I do not engage in such things entirely unprovoked, and I do add content to a discussion.

Perhaps narrowminded on my part, but when someone tells me they have special magical powers, pscionic ability, have seen God face to face, etc. I cannot respond in a manner that will hide the fact, that I think they are bat shit crazy or flat-out lying. I am unable to be that phony.

I would like to say that I loathe movies that are edited for television. Cannot watch em. It destroys the original expression of the art. Know what in the cluck I mean mother truckers? If this forum becomes edited for television, it will be nothing more than a hollow shell to magnify the voices and beliefs of the editors.

If a person chooses to express themselves using profane (not of the church) language, who is anyone else to deny that fucking expression? George Carlin wasn't famous for using language society deemed acceptable for social discourse. He had a great many things to say on censorship such as:

"Fuck it"

-George Carlin

Big difference between that and calling another poster vile names in a vain attempt to intimidate!

Arms Merchant/Angry Femme : As far as the wording of the intro, what use outlawing "personal insult, obscenity, and racial and sexual slurs" when you apparently have neither the will nor the power to do so?

Outlawing? This is the internet, not the Wild West. Nothing is being outlawed. It's requested, not mandated, to use common courtesy towards other posters here.

It never hurts to ask, does it?

If this forum becomes edited for television, it will be nothing more than a hollow shell to magnify the voices and beliefs of the editors.

If this forum ever becomes edited for television, you can color my ass GONE. The absence of wailing and cursing and gnashing of teeth would a dull discussion forum make, IMHO.

Go on, now. Keep it on topic and argue like the Bickersons. Cuss a blue streak in order to get your points across. Pick on the intellectual cripples if that's what turns you on. As long as the content provokes discussion, it'll stand on it's own merit. That's regardless if it appeals to the moderators or not.

After the havoc that I'm gonna wreak,

No more words, will critics have to speak.

I've got the answers to this tangled knot.

Sleep tight in your cot.
