Ok so I've had my eye on the development of this movie for a while.

It's basically a spin off of death note, featuring L as the main character. It takes place in the remaining 23 days of Ls life after the events in the death note movies.

So I bought it as soon as it came out on DVD :p. It came through the post today. I could have streamed it, but meh. DVD ftw.

The story goes that terrorists from some extremist environmental group decide that they're going to spread a virus to wipe out most of the human race, as humans are responsible for ruining the planet. Only they can't without the antidote, so most of the movie is the race between L and these guys to find the antidote first. It's a lot better than I was expecting. The death sequences are savage - people bleed from their eyes and shit.

L speaks English a bunch of times throughout the movie, but he does so in a pretty odd accent. He also speaks Italian, and French.

Biggest surprise: Near is featured in the movie.

No, this isn't anime, but I figure that the anime forum would appreciate this a lot more than the guys over at moving pictures :o.

What I loved about it is that it's so different to the Death Note we've already seen. It's L, but in completely different circumstances.

Besides the fact that I've been an L fanboy all along ;).

It was "meh".

Could have been more interesting if he had an intelligent opponent to go against.

I liked it.

L is awesome. He deserves his own series... one without whiny Light.
