So what i'm asking is, what look/shirts/jackets/whatever gives the impression of wider shoulders?

Suits, for Christ's Sake. You can always spot a really cheap suit when the shoulder areas look like the guy has full football wear on underneath.

Go buy clothes from thrift shops from the 80's that have shoulder pads and either wear them or cannibalise the shoulder pads and sew them into your own jackets/suits. You don't really have much of an option with t shirts or anything like than. Just wear shit that fits well. Nothing worse than a slim bloke in a big baggy t shirt looking like some tweaker wigger.

Really though get some tshirts with a logo that covers the area from one shoulder, across the chest/back and to the other shoulder. I know this sounds stupid, but there were some studies about it and it does make you appear bigger.

There are even some clothing companies that specialize in making cloth like this. I will try to search for some names, but i promise nothing.
