Hey dude, according to protestant faith (AKA: any Christian that isn't Catholic) you go to heaven for believing Jesus died for your sins, that is it. Everyone has their own little side points that are important to them, but over all, that is the bottom line: believe in Jesus, and go to heaven. I have a friend thats Catholic, and they make you jump through a lot of hoops that I kinda see as pointless, but hey, whatever floats your boat I guess.

The way I read the Bible, all you gotta do is have faith in Christ for salvation. By the way, church is 99.8% bullshit. Church is a political organization that really likes to control people, make money, start bloody crusades, and whatever else happens to suit its fancy. However, I believe that Jesus is the shit. He was so incredibly loving. I think that love's all you need.

catholicism is a whore religion between Judaism and the pagans that was created to keep Rome in power. remember this Jesus was a Jew, and yes the Jews betrayed him but before that he was still portraying his message of love through that faith. it would have been very vain of him to worship himself don't you think? your not going to go to hell for not believing in the church. besides if god says we're all equal then y is Jesus his son and y does the pope have such power.

Wait (assuming we are talking about the Christian god and the bible is his word), when did god say "we are all equal"???

so will i go to hell or heaven according to your religion?
According to a billion Muslims, you're going to hell for not following Allah.
So depending on who you ask, you're probably hell-bound no matter what, according to other religions.

Jesus rather strongly implied this numerous times:
"Do unto others as you would have it done unto you."
"All these things I have done, ye shall do also--all these and more."
"The kingdom of God is within you."

Yeah, AFs pretty much right on this...according to someone you're going to burn in hell or suffer some sort of incredible torment for the mistakes you make.
I try to keep my standing with God between God and I.

Mark 16:16
"He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned."
Hebrews 10:25
"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."

- - Bottom line - -
Don't take what ANYONE says seriously!
Because in this world, there is no right and wrong, only different people's opinions that clash and cause conflict.
Some people will say 'Worship Jesus, pray at Mass, bla bla bla religious nonsense or you WILL go to Hell!'
Others will say 'Worship the Lord in your own way, and you shall be saved!'
Others will say 'Buddha is the path to reincarnation!'
And others will say 'Praise Satan, the true God!'
But you can never be sure which is the right path.
Buddhist,
Monk,
Jew,
Christian,
Catholic,
Hindu,
Agnostic,
Atheist,
Puritan,
Druid,
Scientologist (technically a cult, but I'll include it anyway),
All of these different beliefs, who's to truly say which is right and which is wrong? Aren't we simply agreeing with someone ELSE'S opinion?
The REAL question is - 'Will Mankind ever learn to walk on his own two feet?'

I heard a quote once, "Don't judge a man by the answers he gives, but by the questions he asks."
I'm going to be bold. First of all, you said you're a believer in the Word of God. If so, then you know that It's either GOD (lines up with His Word) or it's not! It's simple. First of all, you need to read the Word and ask yourself if you really believe the Word. Secondly, you need to measure what's being taught at the 'church' you've been attending, and the Word of God. If they're not ministering the Word like the Word says it is, then you need to leave that place. To completely disconnect from believers of like PRECIOUS faith would bring trouble to your spiritual growth.
The Word of God says, That He placed the members in the body as he see fit.
He gave MINISTRY gifts unto MEN. Which are.. Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Teach and Preacher, for the equipping and ministering of the saints, God's chosen ones. That means, ALL of these ministry gifts have been given for YOUR spiritual growth. Christ was ministered unto of Angels, we're ministered to of Men of God, that's why they're in place, and why they're given. For YOU. The church is the BODY of Christ. When you say you don't believe in 'the church', you're saying #1 You don't believe in yourself, and #2 You don't really believe in the Word of God, and if you DO, then you don't believe THAT PART. You're not to add or take away. Who are you to change the Word of God? You're going to have to examine yourself, and where you are.
Paul said, under inspiration of the Holy Ghost, since all scripture is GOD INSPIRED, written through men, as the HOly Ghost revealed it to them, No to forsake the assembling of yourself together!
I've learned, it's easier just to obey God, and not question Him, because He means to look out for YOU, rather than disobey and find out why you should have listened to begin with.
I suppose you're catholic?
We can talk on this if you want to IM me. Revivedcreation@yahoo.com

This is true, but he asked Christians. ;) :D
Excluding Catholicism and other bullshit "Christian" sects, if you believe that your sins were atoned for through Christ's death, that seals the deal, so to speak.

Man, that's a really hard one. I don't drink or smoke (altough smoking isn't explicitely a "thou shalt not"), I do a fair amount of cursing among close friends, and a little lookiloo at boobs here and there. Morally, I'd say I'm pretty damn close to being a good Christian.
Going to church is my weakness, though. It stems mostly from ideological differences arising from a few years of isolation, betrayal of everything I once believed about politics, and an anomalous medical condition that makes me tired almost all the time.
My pastor is a pretty fundamentalist-minus-bullshit guy and I firmly believe that he preaches according to God's will for the most part. A bit of contention does arise when their ignorance of political decisions of massive importance shows. A while back, a few weeks after the Reverend Wright thing broke, a Sunday school teacher refered to Obama as a Muslim. I liked Obama for the most part, still do over McCain, but I really, really, really dislike people spreading slander like that, especially someone in a position like that and stating it as fact.
A few other things have heaped up over the months like the referendum for the alcohol ban of our county and gay marriage in general. To be honest, if two folks want to do something consentually in the privacy of their own homes, the government shouldn't have anything to do with it. Marriage shouldn't even be recognized by the government in the first place. The only thing it serves as is a tradition. Why don't Christians denounce marriages from other cultures and religions if they hate ungodly marriages? The alcohol ban was just stupid. I didn't like the fact that to get beer some redneck needed to drive 20 miles to the nearest gas station in the next country to get it. All the more time to get wasted that he is nearly in contact with other people. Don't even get me started on capital punishment and blind support of Israel.
People like this see things through the Bible and have no mind for whats going on around them. These are the same people that think McCain is going to stand up for family values when he divorced his first wife because she got disfigured in a car accident, goes to church for show (of course, he is in good company  ), calls his wife a cunt, and jokes about murdering innocent people (Iranian civilians to be precise). These people don't get the facts to make informed decisions on much of anything in their lives, and I really don't like their company when they show it.

The statement "All people are equal" is descriptive. The first Jesus quote is prescriptive. I'm not sure the other 2 really support the statement.

So we shouldn't take your post seriously? Guess we can discard it.
Because in this world, there is no right and wrong, only different people's opinions that clash and cause conflict.
So I guess this statement isn't true or false? Just an opinion, with no truth value?
So we shouldn't take your post seriously? Guess we can discard it.
I think he meant something more along the lines of "Don't readily accept something just because someone is saying its true" rather then "Ignore everything anyone says is true".
Or something along the lines of "Read not to contradict and confute, nor to believe and take for granted... but to weigh and consider."
So I guess this statement isn't true or false? Just an opinion, with no truth value?
Is it possible to know that?

Fuck the church. It's only a social gathering to make people feel good about themselves. A person who follows the laws and doesn't go to church is much better off than your average churchgoing hypocrite.

You got me bent in 50 places if you think Ima be voting for McCain, just because I'm a BELIEVER. BOTH of them are part of the AC.. I'm not voting period. McCain.. needs to stand where he stands and stop changing positions.. and being double-sided.
Obama honestly seems to be the BEST one. Chances are he's going to get it. At least his heart is invested into America. I've watched him since day 1. I said this man has wisdom. My religious family started attacking me for LIKING him as a person. I agree with everything his says, but I don't agree with abortion. Then I wonder if he'd change America's stance with Israel with this Israel/Russia Prophecy being fulfilled, deal. .. I don't know.. I can only hope for the best.
Regardless neither will be perfect.
I know I've seen what a republican can do.. and I don't want to see it again. I don't have my hopes in Obama either. It's time for Americans to start making things happen for themselves and TRUSTING GOD rather than MEN. I don't want Obama, I don't want McCain.. I want God!
*I fear the future of this nation if something doesn't change or break, QUICKLY. *
Men can't produce the change I'm talking about either.
I'm finished with thinking on and talking about the current situation of America.. I mean do you guys not see EZK 38: Coming to pass right now, with Russia and Israel?? Hello!!!

And believe in what exactly?
