Fat 1st basemen for the nationals..........on the DL for fucking diabetes. I lol'd extremely hard when I saw this. Anyway. Do you think there is a relationship between obesity and Baseball? I mean there are quite a few overweight baseball players. A few off the top of my head

on to the point, Baseball=Americas Past time. Kids look up to Big Leaguers and maybe think,"Hey, I don't have to in shape,I can be like C.C." Perhaps why are American kids are fat fuckers? I'm not gonna generalize all the kids but I mean these fat fucking pitchers and 1st basemen need to set a damn example. If this belongs somewhere else, feel free to move.
Discuss.

it's not like they're 100% Grade A Lard, though. Muscle weighs more than fat and therefore slows them down, which only makes them appear to be lazy fat people. When Prince connects, its pretty obvious that he enjoys the occasional weightlift every once in a while.
Also, there are way more skinny players in the league than big ones...can you say Randy Johnson? Or every shortstop, centerfielder and second baseman in the league right now? And most full-time third basemen as well?
The same thing happens in the NFL. About 2/5ths of each team are linemen...they're big, big, guys, but the ones that are truly fat also have weightlifted for years and years and most probably have more muscle weight than fat weight. Imagine the following: Jared before the fuckin' subway diet probably would not have been a good fit in the NFL, even though he was a fat son of a bitch and just as big as my main man, Gilbert Brown. I would wager that #93 could pull a semi trailer farther than Jared could.
So, I say this thread fails. Even though those guys in the MLB are huge and do eat a lot, and I do mean A LOT, they lift all the time too and manage to convert it to muscle, making them reallllllly strong. Obviously eating like that all the time isn't good since you end up consuming a fair amount of sugars, but it's not like Young's situation springs up every day in baseball or sport in general.
tl;dr: They're big guys, but they aren't morbidly obese. So I really doubt that's the reason we raise fatties and roundies in record numbers.

Half your list plays for the Brewers. I hope they keep a close eye on the tire pressures on the team bus.
