I know I've been back for like 3 weeks but I still haven't made the thread and I have nothing to do. So this is the story of the best week I have ever had.


So, we started driving from New York at like 4pm and made it Rothbury Michigan at like 5am an passed out. We had some fun along the way, we got window chalk and wrote on my car "ROTHBURY!" and my friend's cell number. A few people that were headed there called us, and one girl wanted phone sex... Some girl randomly flashed us her tits too (unrelated to the phone sex bitch). So we slept in a Walmart parking lot and woke up 8am and drove to the actual festival.

Upon arriving, we got our spot in the field situated, met our neighbors, and smoked a joint. After I finished setting up my tent, some guy comes over and wanted to sell me acid. It was awesome because the kind he had were 'Jerry Faces' which was Jerry Garcia's face like all tripped out with the faded color and him looking at you. I think it sold pretty good because Phil Lesh was playing and I saw around 40,000 Dead Heads

We started walking around once the event area opened, there were some bands playing and whatnot and we just looked around. The way it was set up, right when you come in there was a lake on the right and the 'Tripolee Domes" on the right where there were badass raves every night. Then you can keep going and you can go to the 3 main Venues. The Odeum, The Sherwood, and The Ranch.

So then we got back to our tents after the initial roundabout, and then bought some mixed drinks. This actually was the only alcohol I paid for the whole time seeing as how I went into town the next day and they sell Liquor in grocery stores. Needless to say I walked out with my pockets stacked full of Jack Daniel's 5ths. The first rave of the festival was in full motion by the time we walked half a mile back and it was a god time. There was Lotus and EOTO, EOTO was fucking awesome. So we basically just danced and shit until 5am.

We also did climb to the top of the domes just for lulz.

And then the greatest thing ever happened. My friend's gf like wandered off or something and we didn't see her for 20 minutes. So finally my friend goes to look for her and he comes back laughing and brings me over to the fence next to the Tripolee Domes. There were 2 people fucking on the grass, I causally walked up all close and snapped a picture while they both looked up at me. Then we found his gf like 5 minutes later not dead and raped.

Soooo we finally get to sleep, and then we wake up, go get Chinese food, steal like $50 in shit from the Dollar General for lulz and then I steal the Alcohol which I stated above. I basically had two 5ths of JD everyday, it was awesome. We also ate the shrooms we bought the night before. And then we saw The Wailers!

So basically it was the first time I ever took shrooms, standing there in the heat around all the people was too much for me so I went and sat on a grassy hill. I closed my eyes and saw all the crazy shit shit. Like the back of my head, my blood pumping, all that crazy shit you see when you press on your eyes when you close them. And when I kind of opened my eyes the color of the grass and the blue sky would like swirl and shit, it was crazy. I also looked at the clouds (which to me were spiraling around the Odeum) and there were like rays of light coming at me and shit and they were forming shapes and angles. I don't fucking know.

So then I came down off the shrooms and my friends joined me on the hill next to the stage. I figured out how to sit Full Lotus position and it was awesome. So before the next act came on, there was like a full half hour of girls showing their tits when the camera put them on the huge screen. It was pretty awesome until there were some like 350lb bitches (against the laws of physics) ontop of someone's shoulders and they pulled up their shirt... it was fucking horrible and the whole crown was all like "Boo!".

So then the next act came on... and it was fucking Snoop Dogg. Shit was crazy. First thing when he started rapping was pass around a blunt on stage. And then another song he started drinking vodka and orange juice, and on another song he started passing around a blunt AND drinking vodka and orange juice. He played all the good songs like 'Drop It Like It's Hot' 'What's My Name' 'Sensual Seduction' etc. etc. It was the best 4th of July celebration ever.

So then we went back to our tent, got alcohol, came back, saw 311, and then Modest Mouse, went to the rave and then went back to sleep eventually. Float On is like my favorite song once again.

So the next day we drove to Whitehall, got more alcohol, and we went into a hotel at 11am when they were cleaning rooms. We skiddishly walked around and waited for an opportunity and then went into a room and all took showers. So that is basically how we cleaned ourselves the whole time. One day we actually couldn't get into one so we found a hose in Whitehall... Although I did go to the Bar in the Ramada and stole a huge full bottle of Absolut.

Then we saw Slightly Stoopid which was even better. They played Territorial Pissings by Nirvana for some reason so I pushed my friend and started like the only mosh pit at the whole festival, except for Primus.

So then we made our way back over to The Odeum and saw Dave. We even broke open a new 5th just for him. It was sweet because they were playing Sublime (self titled album) before they came out. I also started the chant 'Dave Dave Dave Dave' and then he came on stage, it was awesome. Really the only song I like from him is Trippin Billys, which he played.

On the way back from Dave Matthews I made a pretty good gank. Usually the Vendor stands are like closed down at night and you can get in them and steal soda. I usually went behind the counters, got a whole case of something like Gatorade and sold them for $1 each in the Sherwood Forest at night. So on the way back there wasn't any shit at this vendor so I picked up a whole Red Bull cooler and walked a mile back to my car with it above my head, past like 40 security guards and cops. These girls on the way back told me they worked for Red Bull and thought it was awesome, they then gave me free Red Bull to put in it.

So then the greatest event ever happened, but a pre-story needs to come first. So basically there's like 3 different raves every night, and there's the "Sherwood Forest" in the middle of all the venues. When you weren't raving, you were partying and smoking copious amounts of drugs here. The Sherwood Forest is just like any normal wooded area by day, but as soon as the sun comes down they turn on all the lights and it's full of people on acid and shit just partying. They also have these big pumpkin tents with a dim light inside, it kicked ass. This place tripped me the fuck out.

So as stated above, the best thing ever happened. This event actually started a huge Rothbury Myth/Tradition/Icon. We were smoking some ganj in one of the tents, I was talking to some guy who goes to school in the city I live near when this guy fucking tripped out on what looks like Formaldehyde just comes in the tent and sits down. He is wearing a clear poker visor that says WINNER on it and has a blue blanket over his head.

So I'm like weirded out by this guy sitting 6 feet away from me rocking back and forth. He must of had the worst trip ever, running around a forest all lit up neon and shit. So some bitch in the tent is like "WHERE'S CARL!!!", I think referring to someone from a band that was supposed to be partying in the woods (Dave was around somewhere). I yell to her "THAT'S CARL!!!" and I point to the guy with the blanket over his head and everybody is like "YEAH CARL WHATS UP MAN!!!".

So this guy is freaking the fuck out, everybody is doing Carl chants like "Carl, carl, carl, carl' and 'Vote for Carl!". Some guy started shining a flash light in his face all fast and he put the blanket back over his head. Towards the end he started coming down off of the acid or whatever he took. I asked him what his name was and he said it started with a W. My friend was like "Is it Winner?" and he was like "yeahhh". Then I asked him his last name and he told me Money.

So by this time all 30 people in the tent are all fucked up on a lot of different shit, and they were all singing some Carl song. Like there were people humming and then other people singing just 'Carl' over it. We all got up for a group Picture and Carl (I don't even know his real name) stands up and fucking runs into the woods. We never saw him again, I still think he's in the Sherwood wandering around.

So basically my tent for an hour straight was screaming Carl, Chanting Carl, and singing Carl. Everybody in the woods that night heard it and didn't know what it meant. So everybody thinks we were looking for a Carl or something so the next day I was walking around and I stopped and screamed "CARRRRRRRRRL!!!" and atleast like 5 other people would scream Carl back. So give this a few hours and it snowballed into everybody screaming Carl back. During Phil Lesh, he had an intermission so we left because he really sucked. there was a huge hill of people sitting down and I screamed CARL and then like 60 people screamed it back, it was awesome.

We walked into the woods and I screamed it again and then the people around me would scream carl, and then you could hear the people who heard them scream Carl and it went through waves all through the woods. It was the best shit ever.

So now online like on all the Rothbury message boards etc. etc. people are like "Did we ever find Carl?".

I started a Rothbury Tradition.


So anyways back to the story, we woke up after the Carl night and our neighbors were high on something and they made 'Heddie Eddy' out of a potato. I then recycled beer cans and we were off to see Trey Anastasio.

We went back to the Car, smoked some weed, drank some alcohol, said goodbye to our neighbors who were leaving, and went back to the Sherwood Forest to scream Carl.

We looped back around to the Tripolee Domes for the closing party Rave and me and a group of people all jumped up on stage and it kicked ass.

Once again we found ourselves int he Sherwood Forest. We walked around for a bit screaming Carl to have half the woods yell it back. We found a Pumpkin Dome and sat down. I smoked Opium for the first time with this herb looking guy.

As I was hitting the Opium filled bowl a cop stepped in the tent, looked at me, and then was like "Ok everybody the party is over the event area is closing" so basically it was one huge group of 1000 people retreating towards the entrance while still partying. I was merrily walking back with everybody at a slow pace and we were all screaming "Fuck the Poleece" and whatever else. There was a place where some paths come together where there was random pieces of metal and people would have like percussion circles and make badass beats. there was a huge swarm of people around it playing and the cops and security guards were trying to get everyone to move, it was awesome.

Finally we all made it to the Tripolee Domes and it was the last Hurrah. I have a video but I have yet to upload it, basically like 6 people dancing in a circle and everyone screaming, and I started dancing and jumping around with them, it was awesome.

So then we went back to our tents high off our asses on Opium, slept, woke up to my tent flooded and we left.

It was probably the best week I had ever had, and real life fucking blows compared to life at a festival. Everybody from totse should go next year, and we can organize a bum rush on the General Store where they sold Camel Baks and shit.



I have a second part to add on the crazy trip home and how I drove 220 miles from Cleveland to Niagara falls on acid.

Haha I was for a few days there. I'm back to normal now. Although the hippy lifestyle isn't too bad. Walking around with dirty feet and unwashed hair. Most of all feeling the love from everybody. What the fuck am I talking about, I think I might be a hippy, especially after this.

Next summer I'm going to Bonaroo, back to Rothbury, maybe 10,00 Lakes. But this September I am going to the Utica NY music fest to see Moe. Apparently there's a group that follows Moe and they offer the purest Acid on Earth or some bullshit, so I am going to buy a sheet.

It would appear that until now, neither of us had remembered that we have a forum for just this kind of thread, a traveling forum and that is just where this is going now.

Man if you liked that, you would FUCKING LOVE Glastonbury in the UK. Most epic 6 days of my life. Absolutely positively crazy. Same sort of shit, same trippy environment, it was sweet. Wish i took a camera!

Anyway, I also just got back from a 5 days festival called "Dour"

I didn't take a cam though, I would just lose it or it would get stolen.

I can't really be arsed to write a review like that seeing as I don't remember everything in detail.

Here are some quick facts and numbers though :)

- 5 day festival with D&B, Goa, Core, Break-Core.
- our group: 15 people
- 30.000 people
- 30.000 druggies
- every day out untill 5AM
- Joint for breakfast, then food
- people next to us were brits and they were totaly awsome, funny guys :D
- other guys next to us, ketamine addicts (picture Johnny Depp in Fear and loathing)
- other people next to us cocky asshole french (what a stereotype, but true...)
- Saw more then 20 people get carried away with the paramedics.
- 2 people died.
- saw 5 fights
- I'd guess about 10-20 people asked us if we wanted coke, H, keta and about anything else we wanted
- We smoked 70gr of weed
- I took speed for the first time. I took it at 1AM and my eyes were still wide open at 8AM. didn't think it was that good though, it doesn't give you any feeling what so ever, it just gives you alot of energy and your body doesn't get soar or anything, but I wouldn't take it again, just because the effect isn't all that great.

Seeing as how it was a different country, how many cops were there? You would see one Michigan State Trooper every one tenth of a mile or so just sitting there. It was so funny because people would walk past them smoking joints and they wouldn't move a muscle. Although the scurried me away when I was hitting a bowl of Opium in a pumpkin tent.

They also had security guards which were all from the same company, basically the guys that frisk you down when you go into the event area, stage security, and some were on horses walking around. I never got caught with alcohol bottles in my pockets/belt line once. My friend put a container of Vanilla Ganja Icing in his pocket and the black kid was like "What is this?" and my friend said "Food" and he just smiled and was like "Aiight G, go ahead".

The only people I saw getting shit was from the security guards were these fucking 3 methed out hippies. It was 5am and they were briskly walking away from this little bitch security guard who was trying to act with authority. He was screaming at them to stop and he was like circling them, it was funny. Finally he ran off to go get more help real quick and these people were sooooo fucked up I had to tell them to run back into the woods and jump a fence. The guy looked at me and just bolted off with his GF and friend. The security guard came back and I told him they went in the opposite direction.

The 6 days I was there, I saw 5 cops (all together by the way.
There were a bunch of them outside, but they really didn't do anything.
There were no private security companies.
Those 6 days that it's the festival there, it's pretty much a country of it's own with it's own rules. The cops don't give a fuck what happens there, and I'm happy they don't :)

And yes, people did just walk by as I said in my previous post. And they didn't always say it in low tone. mostly they were just shouting "KATAMINE, COKE, HERO, WEED, SHROOMS"

buying something like acid, speed, lsd, xtc, and any other of those psychedelic drugs is very dangerous at a festival, you never know what's in it. So don't tell people that the acid from the festival is VERY good. Might of been though, but it's always dangerous. About the only safe thing to buy is weed because you can't really fuck that up unless you go out of your way.

Awesome man, I enjoyed Rothbury as well. I enjoyed it a lot more than I did at Bonnaroo 06. The weather was perfect, the people were chill, the lsd I had was amazing, and the woods were the most amazing thing I ever witnessed. Congrats on taking good photos. The only photos of mine that came out perfect were of Modest Mouse (to which I was right next to the stage, and it appears that I can see myself, my girlfriend, and a couple of my friends in your Modest Mouse photo, but then again these are back of heads so who knows). All the rest of my photos at performance show that I was either really drunk while taking photos, or on acid. I'll post some of them on a later time, and kudos for the Monkey gif. I sadly did not take any photos of them, despite the fact that every time I entered and left the stage area I laughed at them. See you there next year.

Getting drunk at a festival, in my opinion, is lame.

First off, almost everyone at these things are tripping, and I know when I'm tripping, drunk people are exceptionally annoying to be around.

And yes, of course the acid was good. Every festival has lots of good drugs. That's just how these things work.

Even if there was a totse camp next year, no way in hell would I be apart of it. Way too many of you fuckers that I wouldn't want to meet. Besides, most of you would probably just travel in a pack clinged onto each other.
