So me and my friend, 18 and 19, went out and drank. Somehow he ended up hurting his hand and I took him to the hospital. His mother forced him to take a blood test to see if he had been on any drugs. He failed for alcohol, I had left the hospital after his mother showed up though.

We hadn't drank THAT much, and I was driving his car. Now I got back home and I fall asleep, only to be woken up about 6 or so hours after the fact to my brother telling me he tried to kill himself. No idea why he tried killing himself but his mom found him before he could die from hanging himself.

So I was questioned by the cops a little bit asking about what had happened today, I never told them I had been drinking. His mother knew I had been, but she didn't say anything to the cops yet. He was taken to the hospital again, and is most likely undergoing a mental evaluation which will lead to some kind of impaitent treatment.

Now, my question is, even though I wasn't pulled over while drunk can I still be given a DUI/DWI if the police find out? Also is it possible that I will be held liable for his attempted suicide or is this no one but his own fault? Will the person who bought the alcohol (who is 21) be in deep shit if his name is given out (which it won't but I don't know if my friend will say anything)?

Of course, none of this is true.

Is there any evidence, what so ever, that you were drinking and driving? If the only indicator of you breaking the law, is someone saying that you were, and there's no way the cop could verify whether it's true or not, then you don't have anything to worry about.

Did you do anything to assist your brother to attempt suicide? If not, the only way you can come remotely close to getting investigated, is if someone says you did. If you truly didn't, then tell the truth when questioned.

Yes, if someone 21 or older is caught giving alcohol to minors, they can get into deep shit. However, unless a cop finds drunk minor(s), and someone of the age with them, who has alcohol, and the circumstances are reasonable enough to deduce that the minors got the alcohol from the person who is of age, then nothing can happen. Again, the police have to have evidence to prove that you all are guilty of underage drinking/distributing to a minor, in the first place.

No, you cannot be given a DUI.

And your friend is legally an adult, but his mother forced him to take a drug & alcohol test.

HE should have said no, and the doctors certainly couldn't have revealed it to his mother without consent.

His brother woke him up, to tell him his friend tried to commit suicide i think.

In answer to your question, no, they can't substantiate such charges but I wouldn't prod the hornets nest by even mentioning that you had been drinking.
