Hi I have an interest in joining the navy or airforce and getting an engineering degree through the defense force, but my only concern is that I'm a female

Does anyone have any advice for a female who is interested in joining and isn't a lesbian?

Is the defense force really male dominated, do the females get lots of shit becuase they are females?

What are your opinions of females in the defense force?

I don't know which nation's armed forces you wish to join but its pretty universal all the way round. If you cry and complain there gonna ride your ass. If you suck it up, hit back as hard as they do, pull your weight in the shop, they will respect you.

Just don't join the USMC gurls not allowed. Lol j/k but if you do you'll be nowhere near combat. Defense force...she's probably from some small nation liek Israel or something

Poiuy, from what I've seen, it's just like any other job. If you pull your own weight etc then you'll do fine. It's fairly common to see male and female ADF staff joking around together.

Ok first and foremost join a branch that will benefit you when you get out. I am a former marine and got my college paid for and what not but if you are looking for something of an engineering degree I would recommend the navy or airforce. The boot camps are easier and the regulations are more laxed. But most importantly there are a great deal of civilian employers that will want you based on your job in the service depending on which one you are in.

Around 15% of ADF employees are female. If the government is paying you to get an engineering degree you will get a job as an engineer. There is currently a shortage of engineers so you won't get another job. I don't really know if you will get shit, but if you do it won't be because you are female. Just like civilian employers you are protected from discrimination and harassment.

As an engineer you will be an officer. There is a higher proportion of officers that are female. You are less likely to get shit because you are an officer.

There are jerks everywhere. Defence and engineering are male dominated, but the culture of excluding females is almost gone.
