I guess I need a new project and I was thinking satellite tv hacking, but I have no idea where to start. I over heard some people talking about it the other day, about how they got hacked cards. what would I need other than satellite receiver?
I know my basic AM and FM theory. I can program in assembly language and in C, mostly embedded systems. If possible point me in the right direct. Thanks.

It's gonna be pretty hard. I've only heard of analog hacking, not digital.
