I know you don't have to go through school to pursue any form of journalism in the first place, but do any of you know of a school that would greatly aid in starting my career?

I would suggest finding something else to do. The hours suck, the pay is shit, and it's pretty hard to get a job in that field. And nowadays, pretty much all journalist jobs want you have a degree, or at least be in school working toward one.

Well I want to travel which with ever job I have, and video is one of my passions. So I figured to combine the two together. Unless you can figure out some other career which will allow me to travel, meh. :(

I always thought it would be really cool to work for one of the companies who shoot stuff for the National Geographic channel or the Travel Channel or something...so if you want to travel, that might be an option. It would be more fun than doing video for news, too. If I hadn't gotten sucked into the operations side of broadcasting, that's what I would've done.

This is exactly what I want to do. Either work for those companies, BBC, Aljezeera, or Current.

Arizona State (yes, a party school of roughly 50,000 with phenomenal women that isn't typically associated with strong academics) actually has a great broadcast journalism program with their Walter Cronkite School of Journalism.
