This might have fit better in Together We Serve, but it's all the way down there.
I wouldn't say mine is impressive, my two great grandfathers were in the IRA and fought in the Irish war of Independence. Then they fought on different sides during the Civil War. I thought that was kinda neat.

My grandfather on my dad's side was a machinist on the USS Enterprise during WW2. His brother was a B-24 pilot over Europe, and was eventually shot down, and went MIA. My grandfather on my mom's side was a tank operator in Korea, though I don't know exactly where, or who with.

My great grandfather was in the navy during WWII. I don't know what his job was, but he was a black man, so he probably got assigned to something not so good. The ship he served on was suppose to be at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked. However, his ship was lost at sea, and didn't arrive on time. My other great grandfather was a Nazi, from what little I've heard. Don't know what exactly he did, since my father and grandparents didn't have much to do with him.
My uncle is a retired Air Force Chief Master Sergeant. He was a flight engineer, and did a lot of secret stuff during the Cold War. After he retired, he went to work with Northrop, and helped to design, build, and train pilots of the B-2.

Great grandfather was infantry in WWII, not sure where.
Grandfather was in Korea, have a couple of good stories from him. He was shipped home after an artillery shell knocked him around.
My father was a national serviceman in vietnam.
My brother is currently serving in the air force.
And I will soon join the army as a signals operator.
Great Uncle served in the royal navy because they gave him free booze.
Nobody else was that foolish.

My great grandfather on my dad's side was drafted and went to Russia in 1941 in Operation Barbarossa, he was strongly anti-fascist though my grandma told me he had actually been involved in some Communist movement in Italy before he was sent there.
Anyway he came back after a few years, apparently he had stayed in Russia for a few years after the war and then made his way back to Italy through all of Eastern Europe, they told me that when he arrived they made him burn his clothes, apparently he had been living in barns in the countryside staying over at farmers' houses.
I've never met him though all the information I have about him is second-hand from my grandma.
Grandfather, father's side -- Served as a tank mechanic in the second World War. Did not see action overseas, instead maintained tanks shipped from the European front to the Pacific Theater, though these were rather sparse in number. Honorable discharge, 1945.
Grandfather, mother's side -- Served in the U.S. Air Force, Korean campaign. Honorable discharge, 1954.
Uncle, mother's side -- U.S. Army, completed two tours of duty in Vietnam and lived to tell the story. Honorable discharged in early 1970.
Uncle, mother's side -- Served in the U.S. Army as an infantryman patrolling Cold War Germany, ca. 1978 to 1982. Honorably discharged.
Brother -- U.S. Air Force, security patrol. Served three (3) six month tours-of-duty in Iraq. Signed up in 2003. If he does not renew his contract, will be honorably discharged next year.
One of my great grandfathers was killed at Ypres. He got his DSO posthumously. Apparently it may be upgraded to a VC soon.
A few of my uncles and cousins have served in special forces for various countries (Rhodesia featuring prominently). You can guess what they were up to.
My dad and grandfathers were in neutral countries or too young during WW2, though my paternal grandfather spent the war defusing bombs and sea mines.

All on my mothers side of the family.
My mother and grandfather both served in the Navy, as a corpsmen and what amounts to a secretary, respectively, my grandfather served during the whole Cuban missile crisis mess.
My great grandfather was Army infantry in WWII, and managed to capture and entire village by himself. W/o firing a shot.
My step dads father was in the 82nd(?) air born (the All Americans, that's the 82nd, right?) during the second world war.

on my dad's side i have two uncles who were soldiers during peace time in canadian marines x and GI x 1. My dad was a marine and never saw battle. he was trained on the east coast where he was living at the time and didnt do much past the grease monkey duties of the deisel fleet of 2 ton trucks. my uncles did even less. reserves and basic training. My grandpa wanted to be in the military but lost his leg to disease at a young age. Great grandpa was a marine marksman in WWII. Great great gandpa was in service but i dont know what he did.
On my mom's side, three uncles did mandatory military service under communist rule of poland. One made it to commanding a small group of tanks before being discharges for liver problems and diminishing sight. the others quit when their tours were done. My grandpa was a resistance fighter in the ukraine when his province became part of poland. he was forced into hiding when the enemy soldiers occupied his province. spent three years underground. He died of old age a few years ago. my mum did paperwork during the fall of communism for a government office. I dont think that counts as war though.
Other than that, my half sister and her husband are combat engineer and some kind of leiutennant in the US army. My sis just got back from a very short tour of iraq. I have a bunch of cousins and distant relatives that did service but those were the memorable ones.

Mommys daddy was part of the airborne operations unit of the special forces
Daddys daddy was a British Indian officer in WW2
My parents were the first to immigrate into this country. Before that, all male family members are required to serve in the military to a pass high school. So whoever was a teenager during WW2 was definately in WW2. My father joined the US Navy during Vietnam as many of my uncles have being already skilled in guerrilla warfare in a backward ass country full of jungles. He was contracted during the Gulf War, not official military stuff. A couple of cousins are in the Marines right now. One cousin is a Air Force pilot. And one more cousin is working for Blackwater, a former SEAL like my pops.

my entire family was exiled from nicaragua cause of the sandinista revolution
One of my granddads was Infantry at Stalingrad, POW, captured by the Russians.
My other granddad wasn't in a war, but he did serve in the British Army for a full career as a Doctor in the RAMC, went to many conflict zones. Lt. Col.
My dad was an engineer in the British Army, but again didn't go to any wars, he only stayed in for 4 or 5 years I believe.
I know one of my great granddads was in the First World War, survived the Somme! Don't know about the other, he might have fought for Germany, he might not have done.
