I want to make some custom patches. Anyone got doxs? I figured that the molecule of the substance in question would need to be pretty small, as to be easily absorbed through the skin, so I have chosen to use Acid(in my schematics, not in real life duh). I'm currently doing research as we speak, but as of now, the only hypothetical solution to my conundrum is DMSO-based, which as we all know is pretty poisonous if you get any undesired foreign substances on the application area.

Nicotine transdermal patch patent (also references other patents):
http://www.freepatentsonline.com/4839174.html
A controlled release transdermal delivery system for nicotine administration. The system comprises an impermeable backing layer, a polyurethane matrix layer containing between about 5 wt % and 50 wt % nicotine, and an adhesive skin-contacting layer. The system is designed to administer nicotine for smoking cessation therapy or other uses over a period of 24 hours or more.
Some pharmaceuticals must be combined with substances, such as alcohol, within the patch to increase their ability to penetrate the skin in order to be used in a transdermal patch. Others can overwhelm the body if applied in only one place, and are often cut into sections and applied to different parts of the body to avoid this, such as nitroglycerin. Many molecules, however, such as insulin, are too large to pass through the skin.
If you ever end up making a patch (for an uncontrolled chemical, obviously), I hope you make a thread about it. ;)
