Midway through next year I'll be visiting Britain and southern Ireland for a combined period of one month, the time of which I'll mostly be spending at pubs, breweries, and distilleries. I'd really like to bring home some whiskey, but U.S. airline regulations now state that you can only carry on, perhaps, two six-ounce bottles (I think) of liquids.

Would I be able to pack such in my checked luggage and confidently think that such would not be broken?

Or are there any shipping companies which will allow me to have such sent back by air mail?

Any help or advice is appreciated.

It should be fine in checked luggage as long as you don't just throw it in there. Store it however you would if you were shipping it, and it should be fine.

You might have to declare it, though. It probably wouldn't matter, though, if it's just a few average sized bottles. Be sure to read whatever forms they give you to fill out about it, or even ask a customs worker if you're unsure if you need to do anything about it. It'd be better than getting nailed with some stupid fucking fine because you didn't read a sentence on some form.

I think it's 3 oz. per container for carry ons, and you can have as many as you can fit in a see through, quart sized plastic bag. That's how it was for me a few weeks ago, at least. They'd probably get pissed if you just filled up a bunch of random 3 oz bottles with alcohol, though.

I'm sure you could find someplace to ship if for you, if you really wanted to. I see no problems with putting it on your checked baggage though with a little bit of securing it. It would be a lot cheaper, too.

If worst comes to the worst, buy what you want, then go to a courier, UPS, Parcel force etc and get them to deliver it.

Thanks guys.

Having to declare such doesn't worry me, I'm entirely willing to pay tariffs on any delectable goods I bring home. Just moreover concerned with it actually getting home to me. :D There's a few bottlings produced overseas that are only available, for instance, at the distillery.

Thanks again!

Try and make sure they are insured and that you have to sign for them on delivery.

Just wrap the individual bottles in towels or shirts and put them in your bag. No problem.
