1) After you join at a army recruting facility, how much training is required before you go into war? Is there a certain amount of hours required?

2) What kind of training is there for a basic infantry soldier?

3) When you're in Iraq, what kinds of food do they have? Are you allowed to choose what to eat?

4) What do you do for fun when you're stationed and nothing's happening?

5) Are you allowed to carry things that ar'nt standard issue, like a sword for instance?

1) After you join at a army recruting facility, how much training is required before you go into war? Is there a certain amount of hours required?

it varies MASSIVLY depending on what part of which unit you wish to join, and another thing is the commisoned officer route vs enlisted makes a huge time differnce

2) What kind of training is there for a basic infantry soldier?
everything youd need and more, survival, drill, skill at arms etc etc

3) When you're in Iraq, what kinds of food do they have? Are you allowed to choose what to eat?
it varies from base to base, whats avaliable etc etc but mre's are 100% there just in case :P

4) What do you do for fun when you're stationed and nothing's happening?
once again all depends on role, courses your attending/enroled in and the base your stationed at

5) Are you allowed to carry things that ar'nt standard issue, like a sword for instance?

nothing like a sword but know loads fo guys that have non issue boots etc.

in the long run itd be best to speak to a recruiter to be honest as they will know more than most on TOTSE

Are you talking about from the moment you "oath in" and the time you are deployed? If you mean the moment you set foot in bootcamp and the moment you set foot in Iraq, that will probably be around a year, maybe a little less or more.

2) What kind of training is there for a basic infantry soldier?

What do you mean? Training for 11B Infantry(or 0300 if you're cool), or just training for a "basic soldier"?

3) When you're in Iraq, what kinds of food do they have? Are you allowed to choose what to eat?

As far as my combat MOS recruiters have said, they have bad food, and you don't get to choose.

4) What do you do for fun when you're stationed and nothing's happening?

Fun? Once again, from what an infantryman told me, you pretty much just sit around being bored, when you aren't actively securing something or on patrol.

5) Are you allowed to carry things that ar'nt standard issue, like a sword for instance?

Uhhhh...no. If the military wanted you to have a sword they would have issued you one.

Actually, I think you can bring a sword to the AoR if you want. You must be able to fit it in your baggage though. I actually thought about buying one of those tactical short swords from Brigade Quartermaster, for when I deploy.
