After hearing rants and raves about the Hamas sponsored cartoon, Pioneers of Tomorrow, particularly the episode where Farfour is interrogated by Israelis, I decided to check it out on youtube. I was quite dissapointed.

The repertoire of my humor is quite diverse, though what I find the funniest is what people deem "offensive" or "racist". Though my delight in racist humour doesn't stem from my disdain for the coloured or the hook nosed, I have no moral qualms about laughing at a joke which vehicle is race. I was expecting from this cartoon gross exaggerations of Jewish stereotypes bundled with exposition about the so called atrocities of Isreal. While the latter was quite clearly present, the lack of any sort of production quality and the god-awful script prevented it from being anything phenomenal.
The episode opens in the second or third act (hard to tell), with Farfour's Grandfather (who is distinctly un mouse like -- plot hole?) dieing in a field. With Farfour by his side he gives him the key to Tel Aviv, or Tel Al-Rabi as it was formerly known. Again the writers have tripped up, why does the Grandfather have the key? Of what significance is the Grandfather to the geo-political history of the region? After giving the key to Farfour the Grandfather promptly dies of causes unknown to the viewer. Farfour promises to liberate Isreal from the "filthy Jews".
The next scene opens in an IDF office. Farfour has been captured, again leaving a plot void caused by writer laziness, and is now being interrogated by an Israeli officer. The officer offers to buy the key, with the near sine qua non phrase "we have lots of money". Farfour refuses and is beaten to death. The episode ends with an epilogue read by a child saying that Farfour was martyred by the hands of criminals, and that innocent children are killed everyday by the IDF etc.
Analysis
My disappointment rises from the inherent lack of production quality, and the terrible script writing. What stops this from being an excellent propaganda piece is those two factors. I really wanted a 24-esque interrogation scene where farfour was brutally killed. Instead I was treated to some stock sounds and horrified looks from the girl at the end. The script was obviously done by some hack who has know knowledge of the dramatic or Aristotle structure. It could be much more enjoyable if time and care was taken to write a proper script.
If anyone had the balls, they would remake this as a comedy series that is a sharp criticism of the jihadist proselytism and Islamism that runs rampant throughout the series. But of course, Islamaphobia is omnipresent in the west and the reprisal from the Muslim community would be feared.
Your thoughts?
