today in my letter box, i see a envelope addressed to Greg Mack (not my name, but surprisingly close)
anyway the letter is from ebay via the ARL (Australian Receivables Ltd)
they say i owe them $99.42 and they have tried numerous times to get in contact with me.
I have an ebay account which i started in the last 3 months and it has made 5 purchases and no sales...i have fully paid for all my purchases. This is no doubt not intended for me
the letter has a website down the bottom which is www.arlcollect.com ...i tried to login with the account they supplied but whenever i click the contact me button i see an error...
what should i do?
what will happen if i ignore the letter?

If its not your name and you owe no money then ignore it.

This site doesn't seem to be an online supplier since the site's front changes everytime you open up the link. Also I can't find any login button that works. Could be it just denies me entry to the real thing since I'm not in Australia. Indeed you can just ignore them however you could be friendly and send them a one-time email explaining they mixed up names and accounts and you know nothing of this purchase.

Ebay wouldn't send you a letter saying that you owe them money. Paypal might - well actually, they'd just take the money out of your bank account. Don't worry about it.

Even if it is addressed to you, I don't think you're obligated to acknowledge it's arrival/existence.

Dear Greg Mack,
You owe us $500 for a shipment of inflatable"dolly love-you" sex sheep we delivered to you not too long ago.
Pay up or else we will be forced to get a court order against you, seize your car, rape your sister and burn your house down.

Actually, if they were super serious, they would have sent it as registered mail.

No ebay's collection agency would though.
ARL sounds like a factoring firm. Be careful for phishing. If they genuinely wanted you by now they would have contacted you.
It doesn't sound legitamite. Ebay would have taken money out of your account its linked. Or send you many emails. You can always just login to your ebay account and se if you really owe anything. It seems like its phishing, so be wary and check to see if you really owe anthing. Also, make shure the site they sent you to didn't install any spyware/trojens.
