so i've been reading about leadership.

effective leadership, teamwork, etc., and in that book it shows examples of CEO buisness leaders.

how does one actually become a CEO of a large company?

what university degree/diploma do they have?

there isnt any 'CEO' diploma.

the closest being buisness or commerce.
but i've noticed alot of CEOs for large TNCs have varied degree's,
such as for coca cola in 1997 when the CEO died, a person (whom the previous CEO had mentored), was an accountant by trade (he had a degree in accounting).

is it leadership skill/vision?

University diploma (unless you start your own company), leadership, diplomacy, people skills, network (and networking), being a workaholic, etc. etc.

It's usually people in (upper) management in a company that work their way up, or former CEO's of other companies that get attracted. But the way to start is to work yourself up in a company. You should be looking for a way to get into a management position.

It also depends on what kind of company it is and the size, as an engineer you could become the CEO of an engineering company, as an accountant you can become the CEO of an accountancy firm etc.

Long story short, there is no one way to become one, but a whole heap of different paths that might lead you to it.

Your best bet is to get a business degree or a related field, such as economics, accounting, etc. If you want to move that high up, then you definitely need to get your MBA. If there is a specific field that the business is, you might want to study that also (such as engineering). Just remember, it will take a very long time to get there.

Its a job that is based on natural talent, and being in the right place at the right time. There isn't really any training that you need to run a company, anyone can pick up a phone and organise staff. You just have to be good at it, and buisness degrees may help.

Another way a degree helps is getting you into the right place. Obviously when a board votes on a CEO, they are going to look at upper management and not at the help desk guy. A degree allows you to get a managerial position far quicker than working your way up, and a degree can mask the fact you actually have no idea what you are doing.

Of course, you could always make your own company and crown yourself CEO.

Accounting is the language of business.
An MBA and background in both finance and management helps.

You need to be able to read and evaluate reports, as well as having strong presentation skills.

Becoming a CEO takes a serious investment of your time and energy. It's certainly not for everyone.

McDonald's owns its own university and has no issues with sending qualified staff for further education.

Yes. Charlie Bell was his name. He rose up to become the CEO of McDonalds worldwide. He died about three years ago while being CEO.

lawl.

well in america, i'd say get a four year degree first. i don't think it really matters if it's related to law enforcement or not, but maybe one that is would be preferable. then you do the whole police academy thing, get hired as a regular officer, gain some experience there, and when the spots open up you apply and test and hopefully you're a qualified candidate.

kinda odd you'd go from wanting to be a CEO one week to a police detective or something the next. though i'm similar myself.

Take Steve Jobs for example.
He went for only one semester in college before dropping out and later founding Apple.
Bill Gates too is a college dropout, btw

So really, if you want to be successful, you need a natural talent for leadership, but what you especially need is passion and a very high drive for fouding and making a company successful.

In Canada, you need two years of post secondary to be a cop. It doesn't matter what you study.

well here, you can just be a cop as soon as your over 19.

but i want to be part of the say, 'elite' police.

which is more of intelligence law enforcement (ie. FBI or CIA).

i want to apply as an agent, and you have to have had a 3 year bachelor degree, or 5 years previous policing experience.

i thought i'd study my ass of next year (final year in HS, but also the most important),

and try get into a law/commerce double degree?

i was thinking about all the jobs and that.

i mean, on average doctors here only earn about 80k, same as lawyers.
however if your a good lawyer, you can earn about 400k+ a year,
but then again you work shit hours 80-120 hours a week.

now here, a 'police agent', getrs about 53k starting salary,
not only that but you feel like sort of a 'gang boss', when your high in the ranks.
you have men 'under you', and you order them around.

and its all legit.

the previous police commissioner was the highest paid public servant here ($550 000pa.)

id say that as a police agent, i'd love my job.
its worth getting up for in the morning
as opposed to the ' great, work my ass off to please the boss. then maybe one day ill get promoted'.

Wait, what?
Did this thread just magically changed from being about CEOs to being about cops?

well if you think about it,

CEO is just chief executive officer.

so really, a police commissioner is the same thing as a CEO.

i was just asking how hard is it to get to the top of the such various fields.
