So I'm going to be a senior in high school this year, and I'm looking to make a short list of colleges that I'm interested in applying to. Dalhousie in Halifax, Nova Scotia caught my eye recently and I was just wondering if anyone has any input about the school or the city that someone who's never been there might need to know.

A good friend of mine is going to Dalhousie and she loves it.

Halifax is a great city and maritimers are pretty friendly, in general.

Good parties, fun dorms, prescription drugs are big out there, and it's a quality school.

I've never heard a bad thing about Dalhousie. Keep in mind that it's a university, rather than a college. Lots of students are touchy about the difference.

Xavier is in Nova Scotia and it's one of the best schools on Canada's east coast.

If you're looking to study French and linguistics, I'd suggest the University of Ottawa.
