A couple of hypothetical questions...

1. When a minor from America purchases liquor online from another country, say Russia, do Russian laws supersede American law if that minor is caught illegally purchasing it? And...does the United States postal service require signatures on alcoholic beverages from a person 21 years or over? Or would that depend on the seller? The minor plans to purchase his booze from www.stpetersburger.com/

2. What is the legality of carrying a flask in public? (American law). I would think that since there is no way to prove that there is liquor in the flask, the police can not stop you even if they see you drinking from the flask. The minor recently got this really cool flask.
Wanna see it? (http://conniescandlesnstuff.org/images/Mirror%20Skull%20Flask.jpg)

From what he has seen on their stpetersburger, they do not say anything about requiring a signature or anything....please HELP!!! Please &TOTSE, do the morally right thing by supporting a minor's drinking addiction! :)

One countries laws cannot have effect in another countries territory, so no. All that would happen is customs impound it and send you a letter saying if you want your booze, show/give us documents/dollars.

2. What is the legality of carrying a flask in public?

When concealed inside a paper bag, a liquor bottle requires probable cause to get you searched. I'm pretty sure that trick seldom works anymore, or else you just hold the bag like it's something else when the pigs look or whatever. Why not carry around a flask of water for a while and see what happens?

Make the liquor yourself, fairly easy. If your paranoid, order the stuff online. I also reccomend reading this:

One countries laws cannot have effect in another countries territory, so no.

I remember hearing that you can't go from, as an example, America and go to Japan or some place with a lowered age of consent and have sex with them.

Any truth to this/explanation?

So the worst that would happen is that I would get a phone call from U.S. Customs? I always thought that once the product reaches the United States Post Office, it becomes subject to U.S. law and a minor can be criminally prosecuted for purchasing it. So the minor won't get charged with a crime since it was an international transaction? What about I.D. check/adult signature on delivery?

Good idea. I suppose drinking water from a flask in front of some pigs could be tried. I'm pretty sure that if an officer sees a minor drinking from a flask, like you said, they would need probable cause since they cannot prove that the liquid was alcoholic.

I don't know exactly what shipping you are using, but either way you can not ship alcohol with the USPS.

Hazardous materials come in a wide variety of forms and can be chemical, biological, radioactive, or a combination thereof. If a material or substance can cause harm to someone or something, it can be considered a hazardous material.

The Postal Service’s definition of a hazardous material includes many common household and consumer products. These items may not be hazardous during normal use or storage in your home but can present a significant hazard when placed in the mail due to vibration, temperature changes, and variations in atmospheric pressure.

Some examples of commonly-used items restricted or considered hazardous under USPS regulations include:

Perfumes
Nail polish
Flea collars or flea sprays
Aerosols
Bleach
Pool chemicals
Paints
Matches
Batteries
Fuels or gasoline
Airbags
Dry ice
Mercury thermometers
Cleaning supplies
Items previously containing fuel
Glues
Fireworks

Other items, such as alcoholic beverages (beer, wine, liquor), are not considered hazardous but are prohibited and boxes displaying such markings are also prohibited.

Also consider this:

11.7 Intoxicating Liquor
A potable beverage is nonmailable if it is of 0.5% or more alcoholic content by weight, which is taxable under Chapter 51, Internal Revenue Service Code. The product may be mailed if it conforms to applicable requirements of the Internal Revenue Service and Food and Drug Administration and is not an alcoholic beverage, poisonous, or flammable.

So pretty much your best bet is to try another shipping service. Don't even mess with the USPS. Try DHL or something similar.

How would one request that the product be shipped by DHL through thestpetersburger.com?

Have you even made a test run to see what kind of shipping they offer?

I'm about to try it to see if the form works or not...

The site is legit. It is owned and operated by the same people who run The Northerner (www.northerner.com), I have purchased goods from the northerner before. I ordered swedish smokeless tobacco from there and it was delivered via the USPS, no ID checks (the package was just placed in the mailbox).

But...since alcohol cannot be shipped by UPS or the post office...I'm not sure how it works.

I'm still awaiting a reply from them, but I have the feeling that they just don't tell the Post office that they are shipping alcohol.

If they use the USPS and they do ship alcohol, and it somehow makes it to your door step, you won;t have to sign because they do not know what it is.

I'm not sure if they would know what happens to your product once it reaches the US, but its worth a try. Get back to me on that one when they reply.

Well when I ordered from the northerner (their Scandinavian goods site), they shipped my tobacco products via the USPS, and there was a sticker on the envelope describing the contents. Isn't tobacco prohibited by USPS? You are probably right, but the only way for it to pass through the post office is if there is no content description written on the packaging.

I never got a reply from them. You might want to be very careful with this transaction. i wish you the best of luck.
