Yeah you need a GED and even with one most branches shy away from accepting them at first but with the shortages the marines and army are most likely having they would probably accept it

Ha ha negative if anyone its the army. Marines are meeting recruiting goals, army is not. Infact i am trying to help a guy get into marines with a GED without 15 college credits they are only aloud to put in 2 per quarter. Its actually dam near impossible.

Do you want somebody that couldn't pass basic math to be in charge of multimillion dollar equipment that you paid for?
That's why there's education requirements, twit.

Let's just say that I'm enlisted, and that I'm in charge of several million dollars worth of equipment. I won't say what kind of equipment, but let me tell you that we have some devices, that are about the size of a small office UPS, that cost $60k each.
There are also other enlisted people, who are responsible for things like, oh I guess a $30 million dollar aircraft. Whether that aircraft puts a hole in the ground or not, all depends on the education and competence of an enlisted person.
It depends on the training for the job. I fail to see how high school education would be needed for most enlisted jobs. Some tech jobs are complex, but to become a tech you need more training for your job. Most militaries award a diploma or certificate for tech jobs, but most of the stuff learnt in high school is not necessary for the job. Only techs would be enlisted personel in charge of multi-million dollar equipment and they have the education equivalent of the first few years of university.

I do crew chiefs in charge of helos, shit me Personally I'm in charge of the Kalamar it may not be multimillion but its definetly in the Hundreds of Thousands.
Look If you have a GED and don't have college credits go to the Army they will take anyone and they're dropping their standards. Marines there is a chance but its very slim.
Zanquiff shut the fuck up you annoying shit

Officers aren't mechanics. If a mechanic fucks up on say, a plane, that plane goes from a multimillion dollar marvel of modern technology to a stonking great crater in the ground.
Comms. specialist are enlisted, as are artillery. Either of those two groups fuck up, and Whoops, military out some money, and since you, the tax payer, are responsible for that, YOU'RE out some money.

Yeah but the Os are ultimately responsible for the Es. If something goes wrong...its ALWAYS the Os fault.

No, the officer gets the blame, sure, but his hand wasn't in the soup, so to speak.

Army actually pays for you to get your GED takes you to the testing centers etc. So really, it's not an issue.
Air Force, you have to get that GED on your own and 15 college credit hours..
The other branches I don't know..

Like i said the Marines require you to have atleast an GED but only 2 a quarter can be put in by a recruiting area. If you have 15 credits on top of the GED you do not require a radio.
