Lately, like the past year or so, I've noticed that when I go past lights (mainly street lights) they seem to turn off more often than when anyone else goes by them. I have even asked friends to try the same lights that I have experiences and it comes back negative. There seem to be certain lights that do it more often but sometimes ones that don't usually do it, do. Do you think there's something weird going on or am I just more observant than most people when it come to that?

On occasion the same happens to me, as well. I'm not certain if I, too, and just more aware of my surroundings than the average person but I don't know.

I do personally know two families(from completely different places and don't know each other) that claim to carry such a trait as this.

But to answer your question, honestly, I got no clue.

I saw a documentary on this once. Apparently it has something to do with magnetic fields or some shit like that.

Can't remember exactly but theres been a few of these threads before. Somebody is bound to know the answer.

This happens to me every now and then for a few weeks at a time, but it's never a constant thing. I can remember a one week period where i only went driving three times late at night, and walking only once. Each of those four times, anywhere from two to four out of every ten streetlights would turn off just as we were about to pass them.

I'd driven in those areas countless other times at night, and nothing had ever happened, so there has to be some sort of reason it was only happening during that short period of time, but nothing that could trigger such an effect comes to mind.

For the other people who've had this happen - is it something that happens only a few times a year for a specific amount of time, and isn't noticeable otherwise? or is it a constant thing?

unfortunately guys, theres a completely logical explanation for this. used to happen to me and id get weired out by it. streetlights would suddenly turn off when i passed underneath/by them. i did some research into the fact and found out that the electric companies will turn the lights on an off in a random sequence to keep energy use and light pollution to a minimum. i think they keep about 70-75% of streetlights on at a given time.

True as that may be, how many "random" coincidences must one observe in a string under the same circumstances before it's labeled more than just a coincidence?

'Photon bounce'

The bulbs so nearly fuxxed that any disruption to it will cause the arc inside to stop.

When you walk under it there are more photons bouncing back at the arc & it then stops.
You are probably taller or have blond hair or somehow affect the whole setup.

Well, i was driving in a car, but i'm sure the same principle would apply, right? I've never heard of that before, so before i say anything more on the matter i guess i'm off to wikipedia. lol.
