I got a ticket about a month ago for violation of a provisional license. (At age 17 you receive your provisional license in NJ and at age 18 you receive your normal one.) I was given a ticket for driving past 12 midnight. NJ Statute 39:3-13.8 was the one I specifically violated.

My court date is tomorrow.

Now, the ticket doesn't say I have to attend court, but after calling not being able to pay it on-line and calling the court clerk, she said I DID have to appear I court because I was a minor and because of the nature of the offence.

The court clerk also said it was a $48 ticket, but on-line every site said it was a $100 ticket.

I've never been to court before, so I have a few questions.

How early should I be there?
What's a court fee?
How should I dress?
Should I just plead guilty or talk to the prosecutor?
What do I even do when I get there?

Since I have nazi-esque parents, I'm not going to let them know about this. Hopefully nothign gets sent to my house. So my plan is to just plead guilty and get it over with.

I can understand the situation you are in. Im pretty sure you wont be doing any of this pleading guilty bull crap, you are guilty pretty much lol. So most likely you will have to show up at a building along with a bunch of other scumbags, and the judge will call off everyones name and you go up to where hes at, and he tells you what he is going to do.

Dress nice, shave, comb your hair. Dont be a smart ass, or act cocky. Show up like, 5 minutes early. When you show up there will most likely be someone there to let you know where the holding area is.

Im also sure something will be sent to your house eventually.

And BTW, a court fee is basically just some bullshit fee they add onto your fine just because they can. My dad didint even know why they did that... Just so the sons of bitches can get more money.

I don't know about NJ but in CA that's a moving violation. You're gonna get points on your license and your insurance will go up unless they offer you traffic school.
