I think something epic will happen that day, simply because it can't just be coincidence that all these people from different time periods and locations guessed the same exact day of the same exact year. Whatever happens may not be apocalyptic, but anything that goes on that day will certainly mindfuck everyone who knows about the prophecy.

Here's a thought. Everyone noticed the same shit in the sky, and based their calendars on it. The universe is cyclical, and the stars they based the calendar on are coming full circle, and nobody knew what would happen with those particular time telling stars once they come into alignment. Since they didn't know, the calendars all end. Of course they were stupid, and assumed that if they can't tell time anymore, the world must end. No conspiracy at all. However, humans are fucking dumb, and the anticipation of this stupid event will play on enough people's minds that it will cause a slowly stirring panic. This will likely increase attentions, and self fulfilling prophecies will be a plenty. If we all live our lives like the world is going to end soon, it will.

Well, I think everyday has something epic about it, even though it's not VERY important, there is always something to remember that day for. I think that the thing that happens on that day might be remembered as a great thing and very important, but it just might be something as usual as any other day. It will be remembered like that because of the DATE and not for what happened.

Are any of the prophet-types really reputable? I mean, even Nostradmus is only right about half to two thirds of the time, and you have to make the quatrain fit the event which you believe it applies to. Seems to me unless someone says, "event A, involving people B, C, and D, will happen at time E" then it isn't reputable. And none of that "secret names" or "references to names that can be found in history and then reapplied" bullshit. Also, none of them really imply an apocalypse, the Mayan calandar simply stopped recording time. And the I-Ching isn't used to predict dates, so if someone did, they've used it wrong.
