Ok, so me and a friend went camping at the lake last night.. This morning we were driving around the lake, picking our stuff up, it was raining and had been pretty much all morning, we were leaving. On our way out of the lake we stopped at the self pay station to see what money we could jack out of it. Not too far from it was a little camping area, and a little building next to the road where people pay, and get there permits checked and shit. Me and my friend thought it would be funny if we moved the picnic table in the middle of the road lol, so he did, and got back in the car and took off down the road, but then somebody was tuning down that road and we wanted to see there reaction, so we slowed down at the turn. They started to park and get out to move it, then a ranger in a truck came by and went down the road, he parked behind the other people, so we were like hahaha shit, and took off... Bout half a mile down the road, the motherfucker is hauling ass after us with his lights on, so we pull over. Hes like "ok guys why did we move the picnic table?". We told him we were just joking around... He then was wanting to search my vehicle really badly.. An he was all trying to peek through the windows for shit that he could see. I had an oz of weed in the back seat zipped up in my bag, and a cooler on my lap with beer in it. We are only 18. I told my friend beforehand that if he asked, to tell him to ask the vehicle owner, which is me. So he asks me, and I tell him that I do not consent to any searches, and that I have a lot of equipment in the back that I really don't want people rummaging through. He was persistent, and said well thats ok you can stand right here with me. I am like no. lol. Then a few moments later he wants to search the cooler I am holding on my lap. I am like no, he asks why lol, I said because its my property. There was at least 10 cans of Keystone Light in the cooler lol. He soon leaves, and a different park ranger talks to me and my friend separately, and said "ok, basically you guys are being prosecuted for moving a damn picnic table." He asked for more info, such as who my parents are, if im going to school, if I have a job, no more of this bullshit in my park, etc... He said a letter would be mailed to my house.. I think they are considering this something like criminal obstruction or some bullshit..
Are they really going to send a letter???
This is bullshit, we moved a fuckin picnic table!!!!
I mean seriously?? Why are they wasting there time. What will happen?
Sounds like a poor attempt at intimidation. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Worst you'll probably get is some stupid fine or another, not anything criminal.

Alright, I am hoping they wont do shit, because I don't need my parents getting all pissed and disappointed in me for this dumb shit. I haven't gotten in trouble, or caught doing anything bad in a really long time and don't wanna fuck it up :(
Lol and yeah, thanx man :) I was really really happy that I had educated myself on what to do when a cop pulls you over.. Most people don't even know there rights, sadly...

Good job. Did you learn this from totse by any chance?
Listen getting prosecuted for crap is part of life, take it like a man. People are terrified of cops and courts for some reason.
In the very unlikely event you are dragged to court(unlikely), all you need to do is say is that you didn't move the table, you never moved it. Although then again you told the "ranger" (wtf) you did, so I don't know. You shouldn't talk to cops, but I understand why you did.
What sort of sentence would you get for it I wonder? Maybe you can claim it is a civil matter, not a criminal one.

From what I can see:
* Obstructing traffic outside city limits
If they go for anything more, its bullshit and just plain reaching. Stick to the story that you moved it as a joke and you meant no harm. Sure you'll get a fine but considering what you were protecting, its not a bad deal.

Thanks guys :) I learned a lot of how to deal with cops from Totse, yes lol, from others experiences that Iv read about. And the Flex Your Rights video, called BUSTED: The Citizen's Guide to Surviving Police Encounters. Its on youtube I believe..
An I didn't want to try lying, because I was afraid that it would piss that cop off even more, and we were thinking jesus christ we just moved a picnic table thats all, they can't do shit. Yeah, you totally understand why I did what I did lol.
This happened last Saturday morning, it is now Wednesday afternoon, checked the mail, and still no letter... I'm really hoping the assholes will just say to hell with the whole thing.
If anything happens ill report back. Thanx for the info, Totse has never left me disappointed.

Cool :) and yes, everyone should watch it. You wont regret it, invest the time.
Still no letter!!! Those motherfuckers were bullshitting.
I don't see why the fuck they figured they needed to lie about it tho. This whole experience has just made me hate cops even more.
