Im an anime noob. Ive watches a fair range but Rurouni Kenshin and G Gundam (if that counts) have left me awe struck. I don't mind Japaneses aslong as there are english subtitles but english dubs are prefered. Can anyone reccomend anything I would like?

you could watch FLCL.
it is only 6 episodes, so it will not take much time.

Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Death Note, oh my!!! You have so much good stuff to watch. Start with these three though. Another thing, do you want to stream, or download?

I have always downloaded rather then streamed because HD space is cheap for me but is there any significant advantage to streaming?

P.S. 2007/08 is really GAY, Best name Ive seen in a long time.

There is no real advantage. It's all personal preference. If you download, you have higher quality, if you stream, you don't have to spend time downloading. If you want to check out some series before you download them, here's a few stream sites.

Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Death Note

These, although I wasn't a fan of Champloo.

My favorite 10 are probably:
Elfen Lied
Serial Experiments Lain
Black Lagoon
Last Exile
Code Geass/Code Geass R2 (ongoing)
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
The Vision of Escaflowne
Eureka 7
Trigun
FLCL (best dub evar)

Death Note and Bebop too, I just wanted to list other stuff.

Start with Eureka Seven, it has a background plot revolving around mechs but the main the is a drama filled love story. So it pretty much combines best of both animes you mentioned. It's also 50 episodes so it's comfortably long but not long enough to go stale.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. Both series are excellent but watch them in order (so 1st Gig, then) to get a feel for the characters. It's my go to recommendation for anime, a few episodes are nothing more than talking heads but the action scenes are top notch.

Black Lagoon has an excellent dub and is just pure fun to watch.

Last Exile is worth a peek if you're after eye candy even if the story is a convoluted mess by the end of things.

I've recently started watching Macross Frontier too and that's a good watch just for the fight scenes. Some of the space battles are up there with Battlestar Galactica. The love triangle angle is boring though.

Ghost in the shell was always really boring to me. I never understood how people got into the whole art direction/plot of the series. I'd give it a 3/5 tops if i had to rate it.

OP, i also suggest you watch some Anime movies. I recommend: 5 Centimeters Per Second, Giniro No Kami No Agito, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, The Place Promised in Our Early Days, and Spriggan (if you want a lot of action).
