So I want to be a psyciatrist. I have a 125IQ, I am motivated for this job for 2 reasons (Extreamly motivated..) but med school really really puts me off.

To get into med school, I dont even need to take any psychology courses haha. All I need is hard core advanced science classes, which sounds pretty shitty.

Would there be a way that I could only take a few science classes and then psychology for the rest, apply to med school and say that I feel like psiciatrist should be more educated on how the brain works rather then how the knee connects the leg together?

Nope, you have to do all those shitty hardcore sciences classes in order to get into med school...at least one in the US. If you're that motivated then suck it up and take the classes.

No, there is no way you're not going to be able to take the needed classes.

You need at least 1 year of the following:

Biology
Physics
Organic Chemistry
Inorganic Chemistry

And there are no doubt other pre-med requirements that I am forgetting.

In addition good luck trying to do well on your MCATs without having a very decent knowledge of the previously mentioned things, which you will also need to get into medical school. So you either need to seriously re-think your plan for the future or become more motivated (Which you apparently are not).

I'm motivated you asshole I would just rather focus on shit that would help me for becoming a psyciatrist then learning about shitty biology.

Ok, lets say I take the classes for undergrad (it is bio, in/org chem, phys, calc, eng) and take the MCATs and then fail like a bitch, what do I have to fall back on?

Well you are clearly retarded if you don't think biology will be important in the field of psychiatry but if you bomb your MCATs you better start studying/ take a class for them and get ready to take them again (And unlike the SATs and other lower level tests, medical schools are not big fans of people taking the MCATs multiple times) because you're not getting into med school without decent MCAT scores. Now your GPA and other things are important but you still need a decent MCAT score to get accepted to med school.

You should look into schools you'd like to apply to and see the requirements. They are not all the same for everywhere, though generally you will need to have certain science courses.

I majored in biology so studying for the MCAT wasn't so hard for me, but I have friends in my class who majored in English and were still able to do well on the MCAT. If you truly are motivated then you should be able to do well on the MCAT. There are prep courses and study books for it.

What other classes did you take as an undergrad and what profession are you now?

You can't even spell the name of the profession you want to pursue.

You are the perfect material for a shrink.

understand there is a difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist. from what i can gather about you and your interests, perhaps you'd be more suited in the field of psychology. and yes, please learn how to spell the fucking discipline.

what leads me to think that you don't know there are two different professions is you said you were a "psiciatry undergrad." psychiatry is not an undergraduate major, psychology is. you're a psychology major. get it straight.

psychiatry is a specialty within medicine just like anything else (OB/GYN, neurologist, cardiologist, pediatrician, etc). everyone has to take the usual prereqs for med school, which are those science classes you loathe so much, and then the same basic medical education in med school itself. requirements are different for different med schools as in some will require classes like calculus, some will recommend it, and some won't even mention it. but there is a core that is required in every med school and those are the classes sypher listed above.

your undergraduate major means nothing and you could probably theoretically become a psychiatrist without taking any more than fucking psychology 101 in college. it's all the shit you learn and have to do in medical school that matters.

now if you wanted to be a PSYCHOLOGIST, wellllll that's a different fucking story. major in psychology, take only the general requirement piss ass easy science classes, and keep your grades up in all your easy psychology classes. then go on to get your master's and/or PhD in psychology. from there you would get a job as some sort of counselor or therapist. the con is you cannot prescribe prescription drugs like a psychiatrist, but the schooling is much easier and you'll finish a few years sooner. it's hard to find a job though and psychologists make considerably less money than psychiatrists, but psychiatrists are medical doctors so what do expect...

i hope things are cleared up for you.

I know the difference between a psychologist and a shrink, you fucking idiot.

A psychologist CAN NOT PRESCRIBE MEDICATIONS

A psyciatrist can do that.

I want "teh drugs"
