Awesome story, but I'm thinking the guy in the Beechcraft was the cockiest.
That Cessna and that Beechcraft were being flown by civies; the former had a genuine query, the latter was trying to broadcast how much his trust fund was worth. The Hornet pilot, however, was just trying to be funny. He didn't buy that plane nor does he own it. He's chauffeuring that machine for the DoD and nothing else, so that was purely a target of opportunity for a laugh. Nearly the same could be said if it were, say, a commercial jet pilot. But when you're in a Blackbird and you hear that sort of radio communication, you HAVE to up the ante. I would have expected the Shuttle Discovery to step it up, too, had it been in flight at the same time.
