People act like douche bags a lot more in high school because sometimes, it is a "popularity contest" where in college all those douche bags either didn't make it or just stopped caring and matured out of it.

QFT

yeah since i've gotten to college i've noticed that everything is a bit more laid back.Haven't really had any "class clowns" because like you said if they were still going to act like douche bags they would not be getting away with it.

High school is a make believe world filled with lies.
High school is a popularity contest.
High school is the worst thing ever, and you need to get out as soon as possible.
High school is a prison setup by the educational system in order to suppress and oppress the youth in the economic market.
High school is unfair, impossible to fight against when you're a minor, and doesn't allow you to have many rights.

High school is so close to what a real jail system is. Really.

In jail, you aren't given the best of rights. You aren't given the best food. You're kept in a cell and told to mind your business. When you get out of your cell, there is a chance people with fight with you. And sure, you could study in you cell with books you requested, but the fact there might be a new gang fight occuring is still there.

Now, that's just like high school, dude. Get it?
High school is just like a jail.
It's the closest thing, because if you try to leave the campus, you get sent to juvenile detention or some bullshit.

If you go to college, you can walk off campus and tell people to fuck themselves.

I've often claimed that high school didn't prepare me for college.

On another note, people don't act like assholes when they are 18+.
They begin to notice the law is no longer on their side.
This has become more and more true as the judicial system tries to punish young adults (people that are 16+).
When people are 18+, they tend to act more mature.

But as I've noticed, there is a serious lack of maturity in college these days.
People simply keep quiet, mind their own business, and try to succeed.
They aren't really mature, because they are ignorant of people's emotions, desires, and true feelings.
That whole stage where you grow up and learn to accept people for who they are did not occur.
At least, that's what I think about current college students.

Regardless, people still work with the 18+ factor: If you're over 18 and commit a crime, you go to jail.
People keep quiet in college, because they don't want to look bad in front of their peers and professors.
Doing so would disable them from reaching higher places in society.

So, in other words, people are still fucked up, demented, and dark when they go to college.
They are just quiet about it.
A lot of people are immature, but they don't show it.

Don't expect people to piss with you and shove you around if you go to college.
They'll do that on a "mental"/competitive but quiet and calm level.
As an adult, if someone pushed me and shoved me, that person would be in for an ass whooping.
I'd bring that fucker down and feel no pity for breaking him/her apart.
That's what it means to be an adult. You know there are psychopaths with aggressive behaviors walking around.

If you want some evidence, just look at how many "scene" kids there are in college. Now, I understand people being broke and getting whatever clothes they can. But then there are people that dress like they are still in highschool. There are people that act like they are still in highschool. And when you start to realize all of this, you notice that people didn't grow up.

But the concept of popularity contest is gone.
However, they didn't get the memo.

I've known many of these "scene" jackasses to drop out, go broke, and get depressed. This is because they never learned to grow the fuck up. And some succeed in college, but they don't succeed very well. They are your typical 2.5 to 3.25 GPA student. They don't make the best grades because they are busy acting stupid, chatty, and like they are still in highschool. To reiterate, they didn't get the memo.

Be serious, act mature, don't act like a fool, conform where necessary, learn to be selfless at times, and focus on your school work: That's how you get popular and RESPECTED in college.

The most important thing in college to receive from others is respect for your hard work.
