if one wanted to make a casing for an explosive or smoke bomb, what would be a good way to do this? i was thinking about paper mache but was looking for other suggestions. what do you think?

No, smoke mix. And Papier macher doesn't exactly have a pressure rating*.

depends on your mix and what you want to happen when it gets the reaction occurs etc.

pvc pipe is infamous in the world of backyard explosives as it stores decent amounts of pressure and it makes semi decent shrapnel.

smoke bomb casings can me made from anythign really. though i wouldnt go through the trouble of papier mache. a cardboard tube from toilet paper wrapped in duct tape would work

Use cardbaord and some random glue stuff(forgot whats it's called). Or use the cardboard rolls from inside of tin foil rolls. You dont want something that with fragment, because if you do then you shouldnt be asking this question.

If you're making a LE such as black powder or flash powder, then use carboard tubes, kraft paper rolled into tubes, bamboo, pipes, paper wrapped in lots of duct tape, ect. If using a HE, the casing dos'nt matter, just as long as it holds the stuff. If a LE, i'd go with kraft paper since it's free(from paper bags at grocery stores) and either glue the ends closed or glue a cap in there made from layers of kraft paper.
