Maybe, your existential 'life' is just a reminiscent of your beliefs. Like if your Buddhist, you 'think' that you're reincarnated as a dung beetle, or if you're Christian you're banging some virgins with Allah, or some shit like that.

Considering your beliefs are dependent on your brain and its collection of chemicals, and when you die your brain ceases to function, I don't see this as possible.
