Hi guys,

Well, GBL is going to be made a class C drug in the U.K soon I believe, and seeing as the only reason most people buy GBL (myself included) is as a legal prodrug of GHB, i'm just wondering how hard it would be to convert. I have about 100ml of GBL at the moment, which I would like to convert. I believe that works out as 160g of GHB or so...?

The reasons I want to do this are mainly because GBL is not very nice, to say the least, and most people prefer GHB, due to how GBL is converted over a period of time to GHB in the body. This I have found means a hard come up, and difficulty in redosing, as it's potentially more risky as the stuff can still be converting (especially if you have a fully stomach).

Anyyyyyway. I have no proper chemical equipment, but I have friends who have fairly basic stuff they could lend me, or I could buy. I just want to know the basic steps for a conversion, and what materials I would require. If it's beyond my (very limited) chemical knowledge, or budget, then I doubt I will attempt it...

Either way, thanks very much in advance for any help you could offer. Sorry for being rather clueless on the matter... :)

Hello and welcome. I would tell you to GTFO, but its a nice day  so do the following:

-If you can get 99.99% NaOH use that to convert it
-Otherwise use sodium bicarbonate (cheaper and easier to find for most)

Look at the the link above, specifically at "Preparation of Sodium GHB using Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda, NaHCO3)"

Let me know if you need anymore help :)
