hence why it is in the global olympics.
what i don't get is why are professional basketball players allowed to be in the olympics? i thought the olympics were all amateur athletes. i know baseball won't be in it anymore, but for the 16 or whatever years it was, professional baseball players were not eligible to go to the olympics, only like college and minor leaguers. what gives?

Pros didnt play baseball in the olympics because none of them cared. It's during the regular season of MLB so who would want to make less money and baseball fame by going to the Olympic games? The basketball players are all in the off season so of course they decided to do it.
Especially with how close it is in some of the divisions right now in the MLB... I wouldn't leave my team for 2+ weeks plus training beforehand.

Only one person on that roster was in college. The rest play baseball to make a living. Therefore they are professional baseball players.

GB did pretty well. Remember our nation is nowhere near the size of yours, yet we finished 4th overall, which is pretty good.
Of course we're not going to win as many medals as the USA, you have a larger population and most likely better resources.
I just remember GB beating the USA in the 4x100m in 2004, now THAT was funny.

What's funny is how your shit country got pwned in the olympics by the tiny island of Jamaica.

Actually on some sports show they had a quote from someone saying that baseball won't come back until the major leagues join in like in basketball and hockey.

Spain did a great match..one of the best in it's history. Plus, the referees were horrible, they followed the FIBA rules but in a sort of NBA-ish way. In spain we didn't think we'd win, but we were all very proud of the work done.
Any ways, great job USA, great team...Redeem Team isn't it? very cleaver.
