right, ive decided its about time to change my hair, so im looking to you, totse, to find me one- my hairs brown and wavy and im looking for something short/medium in length, fairly low maintenance and that wont make me look like a complete tool. (the last bit is important)

Either way, when you go to get it cut, ask for them to thin it out.

I've straightened my hair on one occasion, but it was ages ago and there's no straightener in this house.

I just got one today. Was much better than I thought it would be. Looked in the book, found something i was looking for (mainly texture) pointed at it and we discussed length and I told her I wanted something with texture, and not to make it boxy. Then she showed me how to style it and blamo. What I wanted.

I want to grow my hair out, but like ComradeAsh said, it grows out thick and unruly. Not even a straightener helped me. I want to go for a medium-length haircut, sorta like this (http://z.about.com/d/mensfashion/1/0/U/Q/Shaggy.jpg) mop-top. My hair grows up, though. I've never been patient enough with it to let it grow out much. If I just let it keep growing, will it eventually just drop, or am I going to have to get styling products?

Straighteners will work. You just have to get ones that go up to a high temperature. Otherwise, if you have thick hair, you have to keep going over it multiple times. And it would drop under it's own weight, how long until that happens, I have no idea, though.

I've used them, and I've gone over it multiple times with them. My hair is thicker than sheep's wool. I'm just gonna let it grow. :)

Shaved up the back and sides, number 4 on top with 'dubbers'.

#2 fade to finger width on top. Spike the bangs and trim the sideburns. By spike I dont mean the wave thing, I mean Where they cut your bangs vertically to thin it out. Add gel FTW
