i suggest you go to trade school.
i suggest you go to trade school.
I suggest that you never go to trade school. Picking up an apprenticeship is a good idea, but, in most cases, you can skip over trade school or look into it after you're already up and running within the trade.

i guess if you want to be an unqualified applicant, with no history or experience in the field and expecting someone to just hand you an apprenticeship. why especially with the way the economy is! they're just dying to take in people off the street over people who took a few months out of their lives to go familiarize themselves with the industry. and on top of that, OP has a record of quitting things (college), so yeah, that'll look good too.
and no, you should not become a musician. unless you're somehow really good. but prepared to likely not make it, and even if you do, spend a few years being shit poor and living with your parents.

Yes. You apply to be a labourer and you labour. You don't get an apprenticeship right away, you work for a while and familiarize yourself with the trade first. After you become acquainted with your trade of choice, you should become an apprentice.
Taking a few months out of your life to learn how to use a hammer only proves that you're foolish and fills the pockets of a few carpenters that don't want to do any real work. When you go into an interview, tell them this and they may hire you on the spot because you're a go-getter; I've seen it happen.
A record of having gone to college at all demonstrates to someone in the trades that you aren't an idiot, that you can learn what they have to teach.
Anybody can start into the trades; unless you're terribly out of shape.

i'm sorry, when i think of trades, i think of a skilled trade, requiring specific training and understanding. not just a construction laborer. they are of a different animal. maybe we're not talking about the same thing here.
What do you consider a trade?

Move in with your parents, get arrested for drugs and spend 6 months in jail. Bulk up, sleep well, read good books, think about life, and when you're out even the smallest achievement will be perceived by everyone as a huge success. You'll be happier than you could ever imagine and you get lots of women. Then success will just happen almost by itself.

That's a pretty good idea. I guess the only real problem is the job security, but hey you can't have everything.

Sail the pacific ocean until you get bored enough to figure out your life and purpose.
Good luck. There's always money out there for a talented and driven musician.

Yeahhh seriously, since when was being a musician a bad job? Just because you don't get famous doesn't mean those bar room gigs don't pay enough. If your good you can get booked at a club for like a grand a week, and that is some goooood money. If that doesn't work out you could always teach music. That requires that you actually understand music very well, and that is something I doubt a lot of metal bassist know about, all I ever hear from them are root notes and octaves and really simple shit. However, if you honestly do know music, not play it but know it, then there is plenty of opportunity out there.

pick something you dont mind doing for the rest of your life and do that. work sucks, but you have to to do it
and selling drugs you have to sell a qp a month to actually make a living and seriously thats extremely high risk since you'd be selling a pound of weed a month, if you want you can sell coke which goes for 40/g here in miami, or make crack from coke which makes more grams and once you get a customer, you get a customer for life
but you cant have an expensive place, since people visiting you on a regular basis staying for a 5 minutes at regular intervals will be just a bit suspicious
Just because you don't get famous doesn't mean those bar room gigs don't pay enough.
that assuming hes good and not like the 90% of musicians that suck

How so? There are plenty of jobs that you can qualify for through experience alone; as well as colleges that give credit for life experience. Just because someone quits school now, it doesn't mean that they can never go back.
Life lasts a long time and there are plenty of job choices out there for someone that's willing to work. :)
keep in mind, college credits are vaild for 10 years pretty much. so if you do go back, for say a semester, and then not what you earned isn't just forgotton...
at least you dropped before paying the money and then realizing you didn't wanna be there...
