Complete bullshit. I can't be certain if the pre tests on the site sync up with the actual test, but I took every single one of the English tests and missed one.

One missed answer.

I'm a Junior and will be taking my first ACT in October, and then again in April, and if the test really is like this then I'm set.

Has anyone taken the quizzes and the real test as well? Are they totally different experiences?

Kinda, there is definitely a nerve factor involved. On my ACT they randomly had some calc type question that no one knew how to do. But generally the scores you get on the quizzes are a couple points higher than the result. I got 30's on the quizzes and a 27 on the test. Do your best, and you should be fine.

i think the best way to prepare for the ACT is to take as many practice tests as you can so you know what kind of questions to expect and know how to use your time. the one exception to this is the math section, at least for me that required actual studying and looking up math problems from algebra, geometry, and trig long forgotten.

i never did any tests online but the practice book they gave me before i took the test both times had questions pretty similar to the actual test.

i got a 28 my first time and a 30 my second.

See, I did so well on my SAT that I just rushed through my ACT and said fuck it and slept in the testing room.

Not to mention the first time I woke up at 6:30am to take it they made us leave without finishing because a fire alarm kept going off and disrupting everyone. So we had to come back in a week and wake up at 6:30 am again. I wasn't having that at the time, it was around the time I'd sleep until 10:30 every day.

Why take both? They are just all giant jew organizations anyway (College Board etc..). Unless you're trying to get in somewhere super-exclusive, take whatever one is cheapest.

^ Believe it or not, some colleges don't look very favourably upon somebody taking the test 7 times, some people have the money (and/or desire to get accepted) to be able to experiment with whichever test suits them better.

you shouldn't take either test more than twice. one, because your score is unlikely to improve beyond whatever you got the second time, and two, because it makes it look like you weren't really preparing or were struggling with the test for some reason, all those times you took it.
