I saw this on seinfeld once and was wondering what would actually happen. anyone know? would it just wash it away or would it really fuck it up?

if it was the really fine portland cement powder most of it would probably end up going down the drain but some would get stuck all over the inside of the machine and harden if you dont clean it.

if you use regular concrete with all the big stones and shit in it it would probably fuck up the pump that gets the water out of the machine and would leave you with a washer basket full of rocks and it would make a hell of a noise while it was running.

the concrete would segregate. and not work. it would be like putting a bucket of gravel in the machine

What if you did something more like put in however much you wanted (like a half gallon of powder or so) then added the right amount of water to it and it had time to set before it was gonna be used again? wouldn't it harden and mold to all the moving parts and stuff in there? then when someone tried to use it, the motor and stuff would be fighting against that, and if/when it broke pieces of it, those pieces would start moving around and jamming more and more, etc.

or, still just outa curiousity of course, anyone have a better idea of something cheap/easy to get that would be good to put in one to cause havoc?

depends, concrete can set under water.

And most washing machines fill up, then spin around for like 10-15 minutes before draining and spin drying.

Might work

This all sounds like a bad idea. But I bet a can of fiberglass resin(+hardener) would probably cause a little havoc.

This sounds like a GREAT idea! I'll be on the lookout for washing machines with 'free' signs on them. This sounds like an awesome little project. The only problem is...what to do with it when you're done!

Washing machines fill up once for the soak and wash, empty, fill up again for rinse, empty, then spin. This is enough to effectively drain all the powder out of the machine, probably ruining your plumbing whilst doing so.

Letting it setup will ruin the machine of course, but if i were doing it i'd only run the machine long enough to put some water in the basin to make the concrete and then stop.

What brought this up?

What brought this up?I bet it has something to do w/ his frat. Maybe they pissed him off.

I would think that even before it had time to set the weight of the wet concrete would break the drum or overwhelm the motor somehow. A 50# bag of concrete once mixed with water is pretty heavy . . .

edit: On second thought, use two, and maybe punching holes in the bags instead of dumping them straight in will slow the loss of material so that some will remain to harden in the machine. The bags will probably fall apart eventually.

I said it before, it will not work.

the concrete will segregrate and fuck out completely.

will probabaly fuck the machine tho

in how many different forums are you going to post this thread?

Only this one and bad ideas. None of the other forums would likely be of any help.

It's not a frat thing, though I do find it funny that someone recalls my posting about problems in that department. I'm not affiliated with the group anymore, but I feel like things balanced out well enough with them in the end..... "Sparse thoughts of spark plug porcelain and auto glass drift through the young man's troubled mind.. Irrelevant, yet somehow nostalgic, and not without a quiet feeling of accord." (-;

I dunno why a person would want to go quickcreting a washing machine. If I had to guess, the best I can think of is that the person might be upset with the management of their prior residence for changing their move-out damages form after it was legally signed and agreed upon, and sebsequently defrauding them of part of their tenancy security deposit. Dunno about anyone else, but that would sure piss me off.

What if Kramer used something like Great Stuff expanding foam insulation? That shit gets stickier and harder when you DO immerse it in water. Anyone had much experience with it in different situations? I've only used it once or twice.

I bet if you took a can of great stuff and used the little tube nozzle thing to squirt it in the holes in the drum of the washing machine it'd sure be a pain in the ass to try to fix if even possible/worth it. Don't turn it on afterwards though, just let it set. It'd probably also be a bad idea to spray it where the lint catcher goes in a dryer and also in any other holes.

I just want to point out that when you stop an electric motor from turning while a current is running through it the wires which have no load just keep getting hotter an hotter, so maybe a fire will start. If you stop a ceiling fan from spinning the wires in it will get hot. I imagine the same will occur in this situation, and something may melt inside and short circuit everything.

You could horribly unbalance the machine and see how long you can ride it.

I once took apart a washing machine using nothing but a metal fense post. It took a few hours in the exhauting winter, but im proud of what we did.

that was some hard core african demolition
