Ok my friend and I were having a discussion on stds. The question came up that if a person knowingly had a sexual disease and did not tell their partner, would that person get in any sort of trouble? I have heard that if someone has HIV and does not tell their partner they could be charged with attempted murder. Is any of this true? What would the legal ramifications be?

deny it and claim your partner gave it to you..
i can only presume your gay friend knows one of you gave it to the other as you were talking about it so just blame it on him

Depending on whether its a specific crime or not, there would be something along the lines of 'intentionally causing harm' or something.

In my country, it is illegal for you to have sexual contact with somebody and not tell them if you have HIV/AIDS.
It's also illegal for you to tell anyone if somebody has HIV/AIDS, and you can be sued for damages.

You son of a bitch, how did you do that.
In Australia there's a specific crime "deliberate transmission of an infectious disease". Depending what you give them, you can get anything up to life in prison for it.

I'm guessing this is the USA? In any case it is indeed punishable in the USA too. Depending on a couple of variables its either attempted murder or attempted manslaughter. If the victim dies, these automatically transform into murder/manslaughter.
If HIV is detected with you, hospitals, PP's and Insurance companies are obliged to report this to CDC where you are registered as HIV positive. So denying knowledge is impossible then.
It's called criminal transmission of HIV. People who do so can be charged with criminal transmission of HIV, murder, manslaughter, attempted murder, or assault.

I can't tell you.

Some nigger recently got a suspended sentence for trying that in Geelong and then his lawyer complained about it being too harsh.

I doubt life in prison. Rarely is anything over 20 years dealt.
Can people get in trouble for coughing at you? I get really pissed off when people cough in my face.

I deliberately gave someone herpes to teach him to use a condom. Didn't know it was illegal.

I remember a guy getting life a while back. He'd deliberately infected about a dozen people with HIV (by shagging them).
