I've been learning it for a little while. I was wondering if anyone on the forum speaks it so i could have someone to speak it with and maybe ask some questions like:
how you learned/ are learning it
how long you've been learning/ speaking it

thanks

What are your reasons for wanting to learn it? I see it as too biased towards a euro-centric linguistic mindset. I don't see it picking up as a lingua franca for the world.

My reasons for learning it are fairly simple I guess. I want to learn a new language and learning a language that is VERY simple to learn first [I'll move on to French next] is a good idea in my opinion. It is a language that was designed to be an International Auxiliary Language. It was designed so that people can easily learn it [6 months tops] as a second language and then be able to speak with whomever they want on the entire planet without one of them needing to know the other's language, or needing a translator. It's too good of an idea not to act on. Also, if you took the six months to learn Esperanto and then studied French for a year and a half you'd be far closer to being fluent in French in that year and a half than if you had studied French for the entire two years.

I can see where you see the bias toward a "euro-centric linguistic mindset", but in terms of my own personal gain, those are the only languages I'm likely to study in my own lifetime.

Perhaps that's true if you plan to tackle all the romance language. I don't know enough about esperanto yet to opine.

Here is a link to the olympic games in esperanto:

If you look back past 1 year into old threads there are quite a few about esperanto, though I didn't see any where speakers gave out an email you could contact them with. Good luck and keep an eye out for any speakers that pop up a few weeks down the line.
