surely making boot camp easier is going to defeat the point of it?

the standards are bound to drop if the recruits arent molded the way they should be in basic training, i mean not being used to working under stresful situations isnt going to end well when they start getting shot at.

the 8 hours fo sleep isnt something your going to get most of the time in an area of operation, much less the chance to be caling home every night.

but then again with the staffing issue i suppose its made to attract more people, even so i wouldnt want it.

Thats a good point about the 8 hours of sleep. However, that is all I want when I join. They can scream at me, smoke me all day, starve me, but I want my god damn sleep.

The American military's philosophy towards new recruits, from what I've seen and heard, appears to be that they regard them as the lowest form of retard drawn from a general population of utter dumbfucks.

I'm not so sure if softening that philosophy is such good idea.

2007/08 is really GAY

remember those stress cards they give to privates? i saw a drill sergeant throw one in a pvt's face, call him a fag, then make him do pushups in a creek. apparently they don't work haha

Notice how old that video is? The soldiers are still in the old uniform. They may have tried that, but it's sure as hell not still around.

wow, what a coincidence that the British military depends on ours a great deal. cant be that dumb compared to the British.

do a little research there "moderator" into British military basic training,it doesn't vary that much from American.
Ignorance is no excuse, even for limeys. To clarify the purpose of basic training for you: Take away everything, break you down completely, then build you back up while molding you into a soldier, airman, sailor, or marine.

no offense to anybody from the U.A.E., but this dude is a fucking tool, and just so happens he is a moderator, and british. Which amazes me, i thought jeff hunter had higher standards for totse, guess not.

Quote me where I said it did.

Thank you, but I'm well aware of the theory behind brainwashing.

I can't speak for the army, but as far as the Navy goes in relation to "stress cards":

I don't know why everyone seems to think these actually exist.

Over here we were told that we were learning 'the skills and knowledge required to survive in a peacetime barracks environment'. I think that is the most correct definition available, since that is the reality of it.

The rest (the real hard stuff) can come during IET (or whatever it's called where you are).

I think you're referring to tech school / "A" school / AIT - for us.

The real hard stuff comes when you get to your unit.
