For all you people that like to make your own bongs, I have a few tips. If you have any aquarium or other tubing you can easily add a diffuser using a small obstruction. I used a head of a BOLT that broke off, but I'm sure you could just as well use an iron and some wax paper to press the ends shut for a semi-disposable diffuser. I poked holes in mine using a paperclip and widened the holes a bit using a drill to get the crap out. You can really feel the difference in the quality of smoke.

Also: If you're like me and you have a few empty prescription pill bottles around they're EXCELLENT for adding more chambers. They're pretty airtight, and the cap easily comes off for cleaning. Right now I have a single one with a percolator and it smokes great. Also: I used a lightsaber for the body, which friends love because collapsing the middle of the lightsaber is the carb. I'm thinking of adding another chamber just for the hell of it using more of my plastic tubing. I skipped on a few seals because I made the holes small enough to effectively keep the tubes in place.

I've been doing a little bit of research and determined surface tension of water is a contributing factor to size of bubbles close to the surface. I'm figuring using some clear tubing sealed shut and poked with holes at the end above water with open end inserted into the water, leaving the bong and re-entering horizontally an inch or two above the water line would use standing water and negative pressure to draw water into it, and have water leaving through smaller holes sending more water droplets through smoke sort of like a sprinkler, hopefully cooling it further and breaking the surface tension of the water allowing for smaller bubbles and greater exposed surface area.

I'm still doing more research and googling before I start any testing but the premise imo is sound. Only problems i could see are need for a bit more water, more frequent change of water, and more negative pressure necessary to water the smoke down and draw it into the bong at the same time, but I'll be using wider tubing. Input would be helpful, but it seems you lame fucks are too cool for homemade bongs

I was sort of in a hurry and in Mcguyver style used what was readily available. Taste isn't affected and I cleaned it, so I don't have any problems.

Have you never seen any metal "tobacco" pipes? Copper and supposedly aluminum are bad for you. Even with aluminum, it needs to be heated to a much higher temperature and vaporize, much hotter than a bic lighter can provide.

I don't see very many bolts made from aluminum/copper, do you? Stainless steel.

I'm not losing any sleep over my awesome homemade bong, or the bolt crammed in the diffuser that's fully submerged in water. Thanks for the concern tho..

lol, you remind me of me when I used to smoke back in HS, I built shit just like that.

Has anyone ever thought that cooling smoke too much might actually be bad b/c it could cause the THC to condense in the water or on the walls of the bong before making it to your lungs? I couldn't immediately find any data on the liquid properties of THC so Idk.

Btw, that could very well be a zinc plated bolt head, are you positive it's SS?

Do you guys have any idea how to properly secure the pill bottles to the lightsaber? I thought glue, but I'd have to shorten the tubes, and even so it would only be attached at one point. I had a brainstorm and thought of cannibalizing a plastic bottle and rolling strips of plastic into cylinders and use those as supports. I was thinking you could even put in braided blue/orange fuzzy pipe cleaners to enhance the looks since the cylinders would be clear. I need them to be flexible, yet strong.

You raise a good point with the THC condensation. I checked the MSDS to no avail. I don't think there will be much of a difference from the resin that accumulates on the walls, though, if any.

Sorry it took so long, I've been busy with school.

My most recent invention is a waterless bong that hits like a freight train. Fill up any glass bottle with marbles, drill a hole for a slide and stick it in the bottom. Refrigerate for 20 minutes prior to smoking. If you rinse it out first, the bottle gets super frosty and cold in the freezer, so when you hit it you can't feel ANYTHING. Almost as smooth as a real electric vape. Problem is, it kicks you in the lungs right when you exhale, and you cough like a motherfather. I thought about the THC condensation earlier, but the milky white smoke that comes out of my corona bottle is so opaque and awesome I can't be losing that much. Gets jah sooper high.

Of course, I did just get a free 2' ice catcher in the mail.... :D

whenever i felt like bonging i would just buy a can of pringles, eat (or remove and save said pringles) poke 1 hole near bottom, stuff pipe into cardborad for a nice tight friction fit. poke another hole midway and use as choke, remove lid, add water, bong and snack.

Runaway staple that's a great idea! Although you might wanna think about some of the glass marbles cracking because of the change in temperature.

I've made pringles bongs before, and they aren't bad. I usually pack it with ice cubes since they fit in with room to spare and that was always a great makeshift bong. I'd put the carb a bit lower though. I've had crappy glass bongs with the carb halfway up and the bottom half of the smoke just kind of sits there.

I've used it ~5 times, no problems thus far. A few have cracked, but only while pouring the marbles out to clean them/the bottle.
