I lack any chemistry skills but from what I've seen it's not difficult to make and I'm confident I could do it. However, is it dangerous to do so? My greatest concern would be from poisoning myself or something.

I read on Erowid that it can kill a full grown sheep, so is DMT potentially life threatening if not made correctly?? And is it as easy as it appears?

There is natural n,n-dmt and then there's synthetic n,n-dmt, and the process of "creating" each differs greatly.

Synthetic, obviously, is synthesized, whereas natural n,n-dmt is extracted from dmt containing plants.

If you have no chemistry knowledge, the obvious choice would be extraction.

Read around here, do some research. I will leave this open, though they know I hate shit like this, so I don't know why they moved it, but anyway, do the research, it's not hard at all if you learn how to handle basic chemicals, you can do fifth grade math, and you go slow and think everything through before you do it.

First off, are you extracting it or synthesizing it? That's rhetorical, don't answer it, you're obviously extracting, and it's quite difficult to make something dangerous if extracting. No open flames, and try to get relatively pure chemicals (hardware store grade is more than pure enough). That's all you need.

As well as all the research into acid base extractions and polar/non polar alkaloid washes, I'll try to clarify one starting point.

'making' in chemistry terms, means synthesising one product molecule from precursor molecules, ones that are not exactly the same chemical. You can go from tryptophan to tryptamine to dimethyltryptamine fairly easily, but is far easier to extract. This is what most people do.

Extraction is literally just that, your substrate matter is a ball pool, and you're picking out the yellow ones. Or you're taking a tomato and extracting the sucrose. (tomatoes will have sucrose in them won't they?) The point is, the molecule is, to most extents; it might be a salt it might be a freebase, the same molecule that you want to vaporise into your lungs. All you're doing is separating out the shit. No real synthesis step, but you will be slightly playing around with solubilities via prodding your DMT into being an ionic salt or whatever.

Also, you don't need to understand what you're doing to do a DMT extraction. You should though, smoking NaOH is not going to be fun, vaporised or not.

Make sure you read, re-read, and understand what you're doing - if you understand then you can answer your own questions.

If you're not sure - maybe a trial run would give you some experience and confidence - try extracting caffiene from tea leaves or ground coffee...

For one person it's easy, another difficult. It depends on how much experience, if any, one has. That said, there are some very good 'tutorials out there, Erowid is reliable and long-standing as a good source of info of the higher quality kind. Really, a lot of questions can be answered for yourself and are better, if possible, to be done so. You will learn soooo much more and actually understand a great deal more if you research the areas you don't understand. Should be done anyway just to ensure you have the correct info - There are many 'Tutorials' that have been written by guys who have never once experienced what they are offering a tutorial in (and who fail to mention so:()

If a person has absolutely zero experience with chemistry, then it won't make much sense but a little research in the areas lacking knowledge and some practice on tiny scale will prove very helpful.

Main thing one would need to look into is the A/B Extraction, it is something that is interesting and something that is used again and again....and again....etc.

It's not particularly dangerous per se, but the bottom line is - yes, one could do serious damage to oneself if the chemicals were mishandled but then one could also do so if one mishandled kitchen/toilet cleaners also. The main concern is with the LYE and HCl acid used and solvents which introduce a fire risk - Eye protection and gloves, general fire safety and a good deal of prep and common sense goes a long way to reducing dangers to a minimum.

Even baking a cake can be dangerous.
