*DISCLAIMER some of the methods described in this article
might be illegal in your country, i take no responsability*
In this small article i will describe, step by step how to
steal someones else bandwidth.
This guide is aimed at newbies, there are always exceptions,
don't flame me because i did not mention them.
( such as if 80 is forwarded )
REQUIREMENTS:
A DSL connection behind a NAT.
Any simple port scanner, no need for fancy features.
(the example is for nmap)
A web browser
(with javascript and images support (depends on the modem))
1. Find your *real* ip, you can do this by going to:
http://whatismyip.com/
2. Find which ip is in use a the moment.
nmap -p 80 this.ismy.ip.1-254
3. Use your web browser and enter the ip address'es nmap
gave you. Is it asking you for a username and password?
If so, go to step 4.
If not, reset your dsl connection on your modem
( or just turn it off/on for a few seconds )
and go back to step 1.
4. NOTE: From now on you will need to hurry up before the ip lease expires
Find the modem's model and find out the default username
and password, try them.
Did it work? if so, perfect, it most likely will be the
same for every other result nmap gave you, go to step 5.
If it didn't work, that means your isp's technicians
most likely aren't idiots.
A: Use your favorite brute forcer, this depends on
the modem, so i won't go into detail.
5. Go to the DSL page, and try to change the DSL settings,
( if you do not know how to do this, google the modem's
model and try to find a manual, and RTFM )
Once you get to the page where you can change the
username and password used by the DSL connection,
Copy/paste them.
You can go to semi-optional step 666.
( If your having a hard time finding the page, try it
On your own modem )
6. So you have a username and password, simple get to the
same page on your modem and exchange the username/password
Then reset the DSL connection.
( Don't forget to backup yours )
7. Congrats, you are now using someone's else DSL account!
Semi-optional 666. A lot of ISPs will mind two modem
connected using the same username
so change the modem's username/password
to something random. It will get you
booted off the modem.
EDIT: Sorry vbul screwed the formating
