Hi , I was wondering if anyone can see where this is going wrong, im running backtrack 2 on VMware on vista, im using this: http://backtrack.offensive-security.com/index.php/HCL:Wireless#Linksys_WUSB54g_v4 wireless adapter and it’s set up alright with VMware. I get stuck when I try to open the file with the IVS’s stored in it. heres a screenshot of where it stopped working, removed screenshot

I don’t think the wireless adapter is working properly but it says on backtrack’s wiki compatible adapters page that the adapter im using is compatible:

Linksys WUSB54g v4
Driver : rt2570
Chipset : Ralink 2570
No problems with any injection (kismet, airodump...). Very good USB dongle.
Does not capture WPA/WPA2 handshake.Update driver to v.1.6.0
Extremely easy to antenna mod.

I think I need to update the driver like it says but I have no idea how to do it.. anyone know how to do this ? will it be the up to date version of the driver in backtrack 3 or will I still have the same problem..

Anyone got any ideas ??

While this thread is here, is there any reason you aren't running BT from a liveCD?

with VMware i can run vista, backtrack and apple OSX if i wanted all at once, when you live CD your stuck with one until you reboot, it's just easier i think, more convenient..

3 OS at once?! Dear lord man, how much RAM do you have?

Fuck though, if you got it, flaunt it....

I just like being solely in BT, for the increased efficiency. Don't really have anything that I would really need XP for, well....unless I wanted to play counter strike after cracking the WEP.

I tried this just to see if it would crash, the processor was fine and went above 60% for a minute while they were all booting up, but the RAM couldn’t take it and hit 91% i have 2GB and about 40% of it is used before i even load any programs up.. if i had run them all from XP instead of vista it would have probably been a bit lower, and i might have been able to run 5 at once... not that there’s any point, i was pretty surprised that it didn’t crash after 4.. but yeah, vista, backtrack, apple OSX and XBVM at the same time on one machine..

I've been meaning to try out OSX for a while actually. Got a link to the .torrent you used? Or suggest me one from this:
http://isohunt.com/torrents/?ihq=OSX

Grossly off topic, but hell, I have nothing to do today...

ifconfig -a

Your MAC address will be next to "HWaddr:"
Format of - 00:01:A1:1A:1A:01

XBVM is shit, don't use it. They just want to push their proprietary "anonymity" network. The XB people I've seen are nothing but gits.

I dont use it, normal TOR is fine, XBVM is kind of pointless really...
pretty much everything it has works twice as well on windows

When i run aireplay i get

"read 3192 packets (got 0 ARP requests), sent 0 packets..."
Anyone know where im fucking this up ??
