Not that I'm about to partake in any deconstruction myself, but I'm just curious as to how you would go about taking out a modern building. No strict criteria as to the type of building, security, etc, I'm just curious as to how you would go about blowing up a building with the supplies and equipment available to the average joe? Sorry if this doesn't belong here, I'm just curious as to how the best & brightest of totse would go about making a building come crashing down. :)

Placing 1kg ANNM charges (with a small AP cap and a 60/40 APNM booster weighing maybe 10-50g) On all of the main support columns or foundation walls. Detonate from the inside out and watch it crumble. I'd say booster in a thin walled aluminum casing and the main charge being a thick walled 3"+ PVC casing

If its a steel building like many are now, you would be better off cutting a few supports with an O/A torch before setting any charges. It would save on the costs of explosives and much of the risk to you and the public seeing as more explosive = much more shrapnel.

Every building's a different story, with different support elements and the like. It could be done with a single, HUGE charge, but that's not only wasteful, it's a huge hazard to the entire surrounding area. That's why construction .. well de-construction firms carefully examine the blueprints of a building before setting hundreds of specifically designed charges.

So yeah, most of the time, a couple of dozen Mexicans with sledgehammers and some bulldozes are cheaper.
