I don't know how to translate the skipping of a CD. You know, when a worn out CD 'skips' every 5 seconds making it annoying to listen to the music.

I'd use the word 'sauter' (to jump) or 'omettre' (to skip something as in skipping a class) but I'm not sure if this is the correct idiom.

If a fluent French speaker could help me with this; much appreciated!

I'm just gonna say "sauter" sounds right, but I really have no idea. I only took 3 years of French and my 3rd year was 2 years ago... so yeah.
