I dont take credit for finding this.. It was in IFIOTW and I figure this is the most appropriate place to ask if this was a legit program that we should even waste our time with.

http://www.getdropbox.com/#

Basically its a program that allows you to share files and access them from any computer with the program. I assume it saves all your stuff on a server and when you sign in you can access it. Because of the sharing capabilities of this, a Totse 'dropbox' could be created and everyone could access things that were put into this box, videos, apps, music, high res goatse pics, etc.

I am hesitant however in uploading my files and opening up a door to my computer with this program that I had never heard of.

What do you think about this? Safe? Anyone down for the creation of a totse dropbox (TDB) if its legit? This could be a good opprotunity for sharing things..

To be honest, I wouldn't trust it.

If I wanted to share an image, I would imageshack it. A video, youtube possibly. A program, torrent/rapidshare.

Just base64 or uuencode the files and put them in a tinyurl.

tinyurl converts anything to a URL, so you can just preview the URL, un-code it, and then you have it.

I dont think that would work with more than a few kb.

I know you can do it with pictures. Maybe you would have to do the hex of the file (this is what I saw in 2600 a while back), but it's doable.

To test it, just make a tinyurl and enter arbitrary text.

I converted it to hex.

when I goto it, it doesn't show it
when I converted it to bin again to make it a .jpg it fucking crashed my computer with a TON of error pop ups

You didn't make it clean enough.

Here's a better example: http://preview.tinyurl.com/6syz48

It cut the newlines, but that shouldn't really matter.
