I am way behind the curve regarding modern SF (I tend to think of Harlan Ellison as a new writer), and just recently read this 2002 book.

Harrison is a highly regarded British writer (won the james Tiptree Award, nominated for the Arthus C. Clarke award and the Brfitish Science Fiction award). The bklurbs for this book verge on the hysterical.

It is sorta cyberpunk, but with a dash of Clive Barnesian metaphysics. The main characters include a serial killer who is also a physicist, a woman who is physically part of her spaceship (a la The Ship Who Sang by Anne McCaffrey) and a cat.

I'd like to hear from anyone else who read it, or other books by Harrison.
