Holy fuck. I just found out that Toonami on Cartoon Network is being cancelled. Tonight was the last run. They are replacing it with shitty spiderman and batman movies:mad:

Why the hell are they ending it? Anime always seems to be really popular with the kids... mean I grew up watching it. What else are they going to fill in that time slot with? I'm sure dubbing anime costs a lot less to than to write, animate, and voice new/original cartoons so its like they're getting a deal by putting lots of anime on...
And am I the only one that gets increadibly angry when they play live action movies/shows on Cartoon Network... mean it is CARTOON network.
Fuck... I'm not even sure why I care since I hardly watch much CN anymore, but Toonami has been around since I can remember and it sucks to watch it die out for a stupid reason like this.

I know what you mean. The whole reason I met one of my friends is because we both watched toonami as kids, so we would get together and watch Gundam Wing. Plus they showed Blue Sub No. 6, and Robotech. What assholes!
Man, I remember thinking I was cool shit when I watched Blue Sub No. 6 when I was like 8.
I didn't understand a thing and I watched it just so I could say I've seen a 'really complex anime' or some shit.

toonami start going downhill like four years ago. ever since then, it's been shit shows and terrible show times. CN now has adult swim and fried dynamite - they no longer need toonami.
i will say that toonami was the shit back in the day though...

It was. There is nothing left that is worth watching CN except Venture Brothers, and the new episodes aren't nearly as good.

I started watching it several years back when they were showing Gundam Wing, Rurouni Kenshin, and Yu Yu Hakusho. I got addicted to it and have been watching it since. It's a shame to see it go.

YES!!!!
Finally! They're ridding of that stupid animae fucking bullshit. That shit was fucking annoying!
Memoir:
Sometime in the 4th grade I used to watch Gundam Wing on Toonami. When I was younger, maybe the third grade or earlier, I used to watch Dragon Ball Z without really knowing it was anime. In the end of the 4th grade I was building Gundam Models. Tenchi Muyo followed after this. Outlaw Star followed. Then the Big O. I began to go to my friends house and we both o would watch his copies of DBZ. We would watch Ranma 1/2. His older sister was an Otaku. She had tons of Japanese Manga, untranslated and translated. In the 6th grade I began reading Manga. Trading Yugioh cards.
We began collecting Newtype Magazines. I had thier demo DVDs of King of Bandit Jing, Di Di Charat, and Azumanga Daioh. We met the proverbial geek, who was well ahead collecting Shonen Jump and watching CN or Animidnight on Action. Sometime between 6th grade and 7th grade Techtv began showing Betterman, and Boogybop Phantom. At some point Ruroni Kenshin snuck in Cartoon Network. Some other show ended up on Techtv after awhile. Then Adult Swim got my attention. Cowboy Bebop. Trigun. Dare I say, Inuyasha.
I was getting a normal fix of Anime morning, day, and Night. then in the 8th grade I got a girlfriend who was into Japanimation. No, not some ugly thick glasses chic. A hot out-of-my-leauge filipino girl. This sped me into my addiction. Mostly becuase she had scores of anime. Chobits, Hellsing, Love-Hina. A month before we met, and this is important to know -FLCL came on [AD]. That was my all time obsession. Following these up until now are the last few recent anime on Cn or talked about in Newtype.
I quit wathcing toonami when it started sinking, but even so, that doesn't make the sting any less worse.
-That was my early years, and they ended one minute at a time. I will never get those experiences duplicated. Toonami will never be duplicated. a chunk of me is dead.

If you are then I am too. That's where I first saw that show and fell in love with it. I remember coming home from school to watch it and then my mom telling me she never taped it for me. I even remember getting pissed off at her. Wow. Maybe I am old. Damn.

To me, Toonami died when Tom 2.0 came in. Sure I watched it, but it wasn't the same. Still though, R.I.P.

I do watch porn and cartoons and movies and cooking shows and those stupid ghost hunting shows. Sometimes all together at the same time, but that's only if I'm really board.
toonami was how i first got exposed to japanese animation back in the day...dragonball (know i shouldn't admit it, but fuck i watched it to a point), ruroni kenshin, gundum wing, and OUTLAW FUCKING STAR. but overall, eh, i kinda moved on past most animes and the ones that i'll watch now aren't going to be on at 3:30 on toonami. hopefully this doesn't mean adult swim is going to lose their "action" programming some of it [inuyasha] they can lose but they should just show a lineup of flcl, cowboybebop, trigun, samurai champloo, and evangelion in a loop because all those shows are fucking win and i would never of first seen them without cartoon network late night programming.

I remember the old songs they use to play. Like when there was the first Tom, in the early days of Toonami. I still got the CD of em. First CD I made.

i'm pretty positive that about 60% of kids in america wouldn't be watching anime, or even know what anime was, if it wasn't for toonami. ):

It's either that or those god-awful fillers.
Unless they do both. Then it's pure fail.

Yay! I'm glad they're getting rid of that crap. There should just be a separate anime channel so that it doesn't trash regular programming.

meh. toonami is one of the reasons that i started watching cartoon network waaay back in high school. dbz, outlaw star, and tenchi muyo were the first series that i religiously watched every single day.
as sad as it's passing might be, i also think that toonami's time on this earth has expired. last time i tried to watch it i think it made me physically sick...
at least there's still adult swim, although that's kinda gone downhill in the last couple of years.
*misses teh good ol days*

Think yourselves lucky you had it for even that long. In the UK we had Toonami until last year, but it showed so much crap. The only decent show was Megas XLR, for comedy value. Other than that show it was filled with Justice League and loads of other scheiss. Also, it had Teen Titans. Yuk.
Fuck this stupid country

I too remember the old days of tonami when they showed stuff like god knows what back before '04
I still remember Dbz And when space ghost and and other great animated things. then the sucky stuff came on like
naruto and all the real anime got bumped to past midnight... Why did they do that i mean why can't there be a anime only tv channel with no dub and subtitles that would rock.
then i could watch all the anime my eyes could handle
Really Guys
Its going to be a sucky future with anime starting at 3am
