When operating from the head we use rational thought. When operating from the heart we trust our sense. One of the primary functions of the brain is to make sense of the surrounding world. The ways this can be accomplished is only limited by ones imagination. As such each individual sees his surroundings a little different. In our culture we make sense of things mostly by explanations. They are a by-product of our rational mind. Our rational mind wants to be in control of our surroundings even if we are not. We feel uncomfortable not knowing.

Our hearts can calm our fears. We must learn to trust, to have faith in ourselves and our surroundings. One way to do this is to admit it is a mystery to me once you admit this you are much less apt to label it or try to explain it. Dont try to figure out every little thing that is around you. Don't try to control everything and everyone that is around you.

Just trust your feelings they will steer you right after all they have your best interest at heart.

Well put. Thanks for sharing.

I would add, however, that not all feelings are intuitive--that is, heart- or soul-based.

Some feelings are manufactured by the mind, particularly fear-based emotions.

all we are is dust in the wind...

In an attempt to know the meaning of it all one will lose sanity,
The answer is, its just there. The sooner you can accept the fact that human will never know you can be calm.

^^^Ihave no clue if what I just said makes sense cause my mind is currently in another dimension :D

Makes no sense to me. In the future, do us a favor and stifle yourself, or post elsewhere.

I fear we will all die in 2012, does that mean my feeling is correct?

Feelings are not right or wrong, they just are.

Some ARE more appropriate than others, and fear is never appropriate.

[QUOTE=ArmsMerchant;10520204]Feelings are not right or wrong, they just are. [QUOTE]

Sorry Arms but feelings are right and wrong. If you get good or bad feelings about something thats because whatever it is is probably right or wrong.
Now your going to say there is no right or wrong its all in how you view something. If I view something that is wrong then it is wrong .Now the next person might see the same thing and consider it OK this does not mean that there is no right or wrong this just means these two people differ on what is right or wrong.

Fear is sometimes a appropriate response to a situation

Some people run away in fear from balloons or water. Does this make them bad? Hell no.

Nobody said anything about fear making someone bad. Please try to stay up. Feelings don't make you good or bad.

Really? I've never heard this. Do you have a source?

Actually I read it in a book about indians. The jest of the book was how indians do not have to pick everything apart they do not have to understand why something happens they just roll with it[trusting with the heart] and thus are calmer and more in touch with what is happening around them.
Modern man needs to know why something is happening and cannot sit back and just enjoy it. They have to know why something is happening [thinking with with the head] and if they can not figure it out they feel uncomfortable.
I am not sure how old you are Diamondx but I can tell you the older I get the more I enjoy the simple things in life.
A day off
A lazy afternoon with a thunder boomer so I can take a nap
I kinda related to the story a little bit with fishing of all things. I would get up early and hook up the boat and load my gear go to the store and buy gas and beer and any other fishing supplies I needed. Head to the lake ,launch the boat, park the truck, head out to my favorite fishing spots ,cast out time after time, change baits, change spots, try to figure out the best color, depth, cover and so on just to much fucking work. I was thinking to much.
I did this for many years and the whole time I did this I was having less fun.
I quit trying to figure out why the fish would bite and just threw in some bait I trusted[heart] they would bite and calmed down.
So I went back to doing what I did when I was younger and had less money I would get my fishing pole and tackle box in one hand and bucket buddy[ice chest with beer] in the other and walk down the shoreline 30 mins stop and fish and started having fun again. I would see the animals and the trees and bushes and bullshit with other bank fisherman. The fun was back into going fishing.

I'd posit that different people find calm and inner peace in different ways.

When I began exploring the world around me, learning about it and the way things work(from both a scientific and Hermetic point of view) I began to find peace. When I began doing the same to my inner world, I came even closer to what I would term an ideal state. Viewing the complexities and intricacies of these things brings me a lot of what passively viewing the world does for others.

That isn't to say there isn't value in passively observing, even for me, but I would hardly find it the state which my mind seeks spiritually to apply to day-to-day life.

Then again, maybe it's your example I'm truly responding too. Whereas you found selecting the proper everything for fishing boring, these are the parts of things I love. The little things(bait, rod, location and whatever), and seeing how much difference they make in the overall picture(in this case success in fishing) is where I find myself happiest and most centered.

Good post OP. It's difficult to do what you wrote about, it will make everything much easier if you do, though.
