Alright, I have gotten ahold of a voltage tripler from an old TV I took apart a few months ago.

Except, I'm not sure how to use it. Input was from an old un-rectified flyback, and there are 5 pins on the thing, along with a nice little diagram.

It says:

0 IN

0 G 0 OUT
0 F
0 REF

Out is obviously output, and G is ground. But what is REF and F?

Where is the second wire for the input?

Ref is the negative input. It is different from ground because the input and REF are a differential input, and the ground is used to ground any safety features.

F, I couldn't speculate. Can you give some part numbers for the thing?

Wooot!!! Finally got my posting priveledges back!!!!

No, I was NOT banzored... simply changed my email addy while the mail server was down. It is now back up, and so am I.

The "F" terminal is the FOCUS output of the trippler (if you are still interested). This is a (relatively) high voltage output that goes to the focus grid of the CRT and may be left unconnected in the application you are working on.

Hope that helps you in your project, if it is not too late.

It will, thanks. I haven't used it yet, but should as soon as I start electricity-related things again.

At the moment, I've switched to making a flamethrower
